Well first I have to post Farmar, Nick Young and Shawne Williams in the holiday spirit in video of them hanging out.    #chemistry

Alright now on to Farmar's recovery

  1. Jordan Farmar saw his Dr. today and had another ultrasound, which showed healing and improvement, but he still has a ways to go.

Farmar will accompany the team on a 4-game road trip (Dec. 13-17) to get treatment w/t training staff and be re-evaluated upon return.

Jordan Farmar, who tore his left hamstring in the first quarter of a Dec. 1 loss to Portland, showed healing and improvement in the area in an additional ultrasound exam on Monday afternoon with Dr. Luga Podesta.

Farmar “still has a ways to go” before he returns to practice or games, according to team spokesman John Black.

Thought I'd put all news and updates on his recovery in this thread as he's an important piece and obviously we're hurting without him.  Our bench putting up nearly 80 points without him is a testament to how good it is, and at the same time without a point guard how bad we need him running that 2nd unit.

Anyway, good news, he has a ways to go, but the fact there's been no setbacks is a very good sign.

Farmar healed quick another time, but he took a few weeks to really come back from that.

Farmar told me he feels really good, that the hamstring is much better. Of course, he isn't pushing it right now, so as not to re-injure.

Here's a pic of @JrFarmar getting shots up after practice as he continues his recovery from the hamstring tear: http://instagram.com/p/h1dEBGy7_3/

Especially with Farmar not far away from return (roughly 2 weeks), a move may not make sense.

If he's shooting in practice I'd say that's a good sign.  He got that German procedure done, but not on his knee, on his hamstring. And is back shooting now.  I'm sure he'd be 'clear' in a week but they'll take the extra for precaution and run him in a few practices full bore first.

Blake will also be getting his arm "Germany"d.

Farmar had a down period when he was banged up. At his best he is a game changer.

great news!

Jordan Farmar injury: Ultrasound shows improvement, will be re-evaluated after road trip

20131201_kkt_aa9_277.0_standard_709.0.jp

The Los Angeles Lakers point guard depth has been depleted just 22 games into the season and Jordan Farmar is expected to be the first backcourt player to return. Farmar tore his hamstring during the first quarter of the Lakers' loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 1 and was expected to miss a minimum of four weeks. Farmar recently told ESPN's Dave McMenamin that he's hopeful he can return ahead of schedule:

"I think, I hope, I come back way ahead of schedule," Farmar told ESPNLosAngeles.com after shootaround in Oklahoma City on Friday.
Farmar underwent platelet rich plasma therapy to expedite the healing process and a second ultrasound to check on his progress. Findings showed "healing and improvement," though hamstring tears take time to recover from and can become nagging injuries.

The Lakers will re-evaluate Farmar when they return home to host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 20. If he is cleared to play early, he will have missed seven games over three weeks as opposed to 12 games over four weeks, as McMenamin notes.

Could return back ahead of schedule.

you're always free to not come to the thread till it says "cleared for games"  :)

As of right now it's looking like he may return sooner from the injury and he'll be re-evaluated after this road trip to see, he's already shooting in practice so it's a good sign they are just gonna be careful about it.

So I'll be posting the results of his re-evaluation once it happens.

I hope Farmar isn't rushing it, even though we clearly need him.

I hope he doesn't rush to come back too soon. Don't want this to be a long-term issue.

Yeah hamstrings can be nagging if you don't give them time. We could definitely use his speed and playmaking ability though, his and Blake's value to the Lakers is evident now that they're gone.

Farmar likely starting when he returns

  1. Mike D'Antoni said Jordan Farmar would "probably" start at PG when he returns from (hamstring) injury. Farmar will be re-evaluated next week

Bench is still gonna be in hard times because Farmar pretty much has to start.  Because we don't want to overplay Farmar coming off a hamstring issue.

Farmar warming up with the Lakers before the Atlanta game.

He "may" play on Friday after the second evaluation and has increased pressure and getting up and down with 'no problems'
