Carmelo Anthony outduels Kevin Love with 33 points leading his team to a victory while Kevin Love scores only one point in the second half and continues his string as one of the most inefficient 2nd half players in the league and one of it's most glorified frontrunners.

No surprise.

Ryan Kelly could drop 60 on Love. Melo is the better player, and anyone with eyes could tell you that.

I don't think you're totally right or wrong in believing that but if a team is in rebuild mode the last player to add to the mix is one that is about to be 30 that has a higher price tag vs one that is 26 with a lower price tag that have probably the same impact on the game.  Not to mention Love is a much better player to have in the flow of an offense.  Neither are worth building around as your main piece if you plan on winning a championship though.

The question is if Love just isn't a closer because he is the worst 2nd half player in the league right now or at least one of them as his numbers go down severely.

The question is, is he mentally just not a closer, OR is he just exhausted because he has to do everything for a Timberwolves team going nowhere and too exhausted by the 3rd and the 4th to do anything else.

I read a rumor today about Noah saying to Melo:
"You can go to LA but if you want a ring, come to Chicago." during the All Star weekend.

Carmelo Anthony scored 29 points on Friday night but his biggest shot was directed at a report that said Joakim Noah was trying to recruit him to the Bulls. “No, not at all,” Anthony said when asked if there was any truth to the story after Friday’s 108-81 win against the Utah Jazz. “I can’t have that conversation.”

Because imo Carmelo knows why they are doing it. He's not stupid.  Which is why he out and out said that Phil means nothing to him in terms for what decision he's going to make.   He's seen them(The Knicks organization) play this game before and so has Woj.  Dolan ALWAYS stays in control, no matter what "title" he gives you or "power" he promises you.

Like Carmelo said, he's interested in the 2014-2015 season and isn't thinking about a year or two from now when he's 31,32.

If Carmelo goes to Knicks management and goes

"You got Phil?"
Yes
"Alright. Do we have cap space?"
No
"Do we have a 2014 Draft pick?"
No
"If I left how far over the cap would we still be."
Severely
"Is Bargnani and Stoudamire opting out to free space?"
No
"But you want me to stay?"
Yes
"Cause Phil Jackson is sitting in the skybox."
Yes
"Alright I'm going to Chicago, enjoy your rebuild, hope ya'll draft Embiid if he stays in college another year!"

yes they are.  And Carmelo is thinking next year, not two years down the road.   Carmelo wants to win NOW, he'll go to Chicago cause there's nothing Phil is going to do away from the bench that's going to make the Knicks a better team next year.   Unless he convinces Bargnani, Stoudamire out of their contracts and tricks a team into taking JR Smith's contract, the Knicks aren't doing anything.   Carmelo should leave and leave them to be the worst team in the league while they hope that one of the 2014 guys stays for a sophomore year and they get the first pick.

Lakers are still are viable option as Stephen A has said because they would have fire Mike Antoni by end of season and have cap room to sign Melo.

Signing Melo is not enough .. In comparison to this season , Lakers would be saving 7 m (kobe's new contract) + possibility of saving the whole 9.7 m from Nash(Medical retirement?)

Thats 16.7m saved for next year.  You'd use this for retaining players ...

We need a defensive center, not sure who we can go after ..

And here's the thing.

Mitch has already said many times the Lakers aren't defined by "saving cap space" or getting under the tax.  I think if anything the trade deadline proved that.

They're willing to go over the tax if it means putting together a championship roster.  part of me feels like all that cap room is just a cushion to soften the blow of the tax that will come there way IF they made the signings necessary to make us a championship roster within Kobe's final two years cause they'd need to come deep out of pocket to do so.
