He means in the case that we trade Pau for a defensive asset.

Exactly.

Marshall-Kobe-Wiggins-Melo-Sanders would be fun!

I asked Kobe Bryant about reports Melo may want to play in La-La land. Kobe said who wouldn't with sun and palm trees.

Kobe added "it's colder than sh-t in New York.'' Is that tampering?

Kobe can see why Carmelo would want to play for the Lakers: http://www.basketballinsiders.com/kobe-on-carmelo-everyone-wants-to-play-in-l-a/

Kobe Bryant on free agency advice for Melo: "If he wants to call me for advice later as a friend, I’ll be more than happy to give it to him"

What are your opinions of having Melo on the team?

Honestly, I think it depends entirely on who we draft. If we draft Wiggins, then there isn't much of a chance at signing Melo. We'll need Love at the PF spot (with his monster rebounding) during the 2015 offseason, so no point in signing Melo and placing him at the 4. That leaves us with a defensive anchor short of being a contender (assuming we still have a deep bench).

On the other hand, if we draft Embiid, then there's a much higher chance in signing Melo. Then sign Love the following offseason for a potential starting lineup of Marshall, Kobe, Melo, Love, Embiid. If Embiid can transform into a successful defensive anchor in the NBA level, that team will be very competitive. Love would aid with our rebounding woes while Embiid with our paint protection. Kobe and Melo can score at will and defend when they choose to. Marshall (or perhaps other PG like Lowry) can facilitate for others and hit the occasional three/jumpshot.

I don't see Melo taking a large paycut to sign with us though. If we sign Melo for close to the max, then we won't be able to sign Love the following offseason due to Kobe's large salary along with Melo's. Nonetheless, I'm interested in seeing what happens!

Lol at the thread title update. Kinda basic (no offense). Reminds me of that scene in Billy Madison with the janitor revealing his inside information to Eric.

We don't want Melo. We are getting LeBron this offseason. Remember, they hugged when the game finished?

Carmelo Anthony's wife, La La, says Melo will stay in New York. » http://es.pn/L4fn6T

La La Anthony "definitely" thinks Carmelo will re-sign with the #Knicks this summer. Details here: http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/10361206/la-la-anthony-says-carmelo-anthony-definitely-re-sign-new-york-knicks  via @ESPNNewYork

What did Stephen A Smith say?

”I don’t want Melo to leave, but I believe the Knicks should move him, because if your putting yourself in position for him to leave you for nothing like Dwight Howard leaving L.A., it’ll be like starting over. He’s non-committal and that’s the problem."

"You’re going to hear a lot about Chicago... it’s a viable possiblity, but a lot has to happen. They’d have to amnesty Boozer and get rid of Dunleavy Jr. to make room, plus you’re hoping Rose comes back healthy, and you’re hoping the relationship between Thibodeau and the Chicago front office (gets better and is viable).”

“Here’s the thing that leads to Melo staying in New York: New York cannot only give him $30 million more, but if he wants to win, you want to go to a large market. L.A. don’t look like they’re going to win anytime soon even if Kobe does come back, the Lakers have to fire Mike D’Antoni and look for a new head coach to come there, you have to work under Jim Buss which is a circus in itself so that’s problematic. If you’re Melo it may be best to stay in New York.”

“My point is I don’t know if anybody could be trusted to want to stay with the Knicks, because the New York Knicks are dysfunctional. When all you are is about making money, and you’re not about winning, and you haven’t won a championship in over 40+ years. That’s a problem that they’ve shown no ability to fix. And that’s where we are right now. It’s 50-50 what Melo is going to do."

"I’m still hearing Melo to L.A. I don’t summarily dismiss Chicago because it’s always possible and I don’t want to disrespect their (Yahoo!) report. But that’s not what I’m hearing. I’m still hearing L.A., and all I’ve been hearing is L.A.”

This was today on FT.

"I definitely think he will stay," La La Anthony said in an interview with Bravo TV's "Watch What Happens Live." "I know that he wants to stay, and I support him wherever he wants to go.

"Listen, I used to live in Denver with him. If I can live in Denver, I can live anywhere. I just want him to be happy."

La La Anthony playfully mocked those who speculate that she will have a heavy influence on her husband's decision.

"I get blamed for everything. No matter what happens, it's my fault," she said. "[There are] all these talks if he's staying in New York or not, [and] I'm somehow the mastermind behind if he stays or not."

^La La^

Like she would say anything different, and have the NY media hounds attack Melo.

Out of topic, has SAS say anything wrong in the past? Did he say Dwight was going to Houston before the offseason?

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

Sas usually on the money when reporting. He called Miami Big 3 before anybody did. Said Lakers should trade Dwight before free agency because Houston Rockets would be favorites to land him.

People forget that Stephen A Smith is actually a Knicks fan.

Now consider that, and tell me how you feel about his reports.
