And rondo is a pure passer and uses has one of the highest basketball IQ's in the league, so how is his athleticism gonna drastically change him?

he relies on short, quick bursts (ala CP3) to get wherever he wants in half-court scenarios, and then blinding/balls-out speed in transition. Andre Miller is not quick or fast by any stretch of the imagination.

i'm not as down on Rondo's shelf life as Jody is, mainly because of what you just said - pinpoint passer with high bball IQ. The point I was trying to make, is that Andre Miller is a bad comparison of Rondo's potential longevity in the NBA, simply because they are not the same type of player and do not play the same type of game.

And would you pay Andre Miller a max or near max deal Rondo may command at the age of 28 going on 29 in the same season?  Rondo is a good PG but the more control he had over Boston the worse the offense got.  All of that isn't his fault but some of it was.  Rondo at times can be the equivalent of a ball hog but looks to rack up on assist.  He isn't able to keep defenses honest due to his lack of an outside shot.  I'm not saying you can't win with him on your team I'm saying he isn't an elite player by any means and he needs a certain type of team to be effective.  Him and Kobe in the same backcourt would probably be the worst 3pt shooting backourt in the game.  Your PG and wings should be your most effective shooters.  Kobe is an exception b/c he can score in other ways.

Tell Andre Miller that.

Honestly, what intrigues me most about Rondo is his defense.

When healthy, he's definitely in the conversation of best point guard defenders.

He definitely does need to work on that J tho, that [expletive] is broke as [expletive]

Most definitely.  I love Rondo on this team with better players.  I don't want Rondo as my foundation though.

@AlexKennedyNBA: Knicks want Love, Aldridge, Roy Hibbert, Marc Gasol, Tony Parker or Rajon Rondo

Sounds like the Knicks are desperate and are in "PLEASE SIGN WITH US!! ANYONE!!!!" mode, sounds more like they EXPECT Melo to leave and are reaching for any and every star hoping some team bites.

Knicks chairman James Dolan told New York players in a meeting Thursday that there are no trades or changes to the coaching staff forthcoming, ESPN.com has learned.
Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that Dolan gathered the team before the first practice in the wake of New York's embarrassing 29-point home loss to Oklahoma City on Christmas Day largely in an attempt to hush the growing speculation about coach Mike Woodson's job security following the Knicks' 9-19 start.

I'd love Melo here for much less than he's going to command.  Unfortunately he's going to have too many options on the market.

He isn't worth more than anybody making 14-15M right now IMO.

Knicks get ouscored by 17 points in the fourth quarter in their home to the lowly Toronto Raptors, lose yet again and in embarrassing fashion. What's new I guess.

On the right team (like the Clippers) Melo could be worth a lot. But on a team like the Lakers, devoid of paint protection and with a semi-retarded coach, paying Melo more than 15 is a mistake.
