You could argue that Mitch did put a team out there that could potentially lose

But also potentially find some gems

In a way Mitch put a feast or famine team out there

Problem is Kobe. He's going to hurt this team. I can already see the 38-42 wins on his will alone

If Kobe is Kobe, we can make some noise in the playoffs. Hey, look at the Red Sox. Worst to first.

One loss closer to Wiggins!

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

Couple things:

This isn't a Red Sox situation.  Boston was in last place in 2012, but came back this year and won it all.  It's not like Boston was in last place this season and they were able to pull it together to win it all in the end.

Secondly, I keep seeing this thought about Kobe Bryant willing this team to victory. I don't think it's wise to bet against Kobe, but it's also important to remember that we've been to the lottery before WITH Kobe.  This was with a 26 year old Kobe who averaged 28/6/6.  That season also happened to be the last time he missed more than 15 games in a season.

It's going to be great seeing Kobe back on the court and he will make this team better, no doubt in my mind.  But how much better is the question?

What's scary about this team at the moment is Jodie Meeks is our leading scorer, Gasol is behind him while shooting 38% from the field, and our third leading scorer is Nick Young.  Kobe will add the offense, but defensively, this team is going to struggle throughout the season.  We have minimal rim protection and that "minimal" is coming from Jordan Hill.

This is a D'Antoni coached team except the offense isn't there and that's why people should be concerned. While in Phoenix, his teams gave up an average of 102 ppg, but they won games because they averaged nearly 110 ppg.  Right now, we are giving up 104 ppg and average 98 ppg on offense.

It's fine for people to be optimistic, but fans also have to be realistic.  I said around game 15-20 you will be able to judge where teams are at and I know Kobe isn't back yet, but he's not going to help defensively.  It's not about individual defenders, it's about team defending, which isn't going to be very good with or without Kobe.

If Kobe were playing we'd like be .500 instead of under .500 and finish the season in that area as well

Mediocrity isn't a good thing, in fact it's the worst thing

My issue is that Kobe will add wins, regardless of how many. We will likely win more games with Kobe in the lineup as opposed to out of the lineup

And like you've said if you're not going to have any chance of success in the playoffs then why try to scratch our way there

For me it's why have Kobe not only risk re-injury but also risk injury to another body part while compensating for his weakness in his leg

When he can sit out, rest those knees, limit wear and tear for no reason and also make sure he's 100%

Get ourselves a top 5 pick and have one player that this franchise can actually get excited about past the next 2 years

If this does somehow unintentionally happen, I think I personally want/prefer the big guy Embiid.

Wiggins/Parker both are very good.

Exum would be next.

We don't need a Embiid with MDA as the coach.

You really think he'll still be the coach?
