We all know Kobe won't be able to come back until mid-late December. Do you think the Lakers will be above .50 by that time? Not even in NBA 2K14. Nash is hurt and done, Pau is so inconsistent and Father Time has caught him, Mike D'Antoni will always be a terrible defensive head coach and there are a lot of elite teams in the Western Conference this season. Even if we manage to steal the 8th seed, we will get destroyed in the first round as we were last season. The sooner we realize we have no chance this season, the better for us. Therefore, why don't we try to develop our athletic youngsters (Henry, Farmar, Johnson, Young) while letting Kobe and Nash sit out the entire regular season? If we are lucky, we can draft a future superstar in Wiggins next season and obviously sign one or two superstar-caliber players via free agency next summer. Thoughts?

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

Do you really think Kobe and Nash would agree or let alone want to sit out the entire season?....  People need to stop with the idea of tanking.

1) Tanking doesn't guarantee anything

2) We can sign one or two "superstars" even without tanking

3) Wiggins may not pan out as many are expecting. (Or he will be the next Lebron, who knows)

Yeah, because 5 games into the season determines when a team is "Tanking", right?

Players don't tank, management does.  Nash being on the court isn't going to stop them from getting washed and losing games and the way this roster is set up even having Kobe back is only going to produce marginal success.

In the end getting a lottery pick is better than barely getting into the playoffs and getting beat by the top seed and then getting the 18th pick or so.

This is supposed to be the deepest draft since the 96 draft.  We dont need the #1 pick.  Hell just being bad enough to get a top 5-6 pick would do us wonders.  Wiggins isn't even considered the clear cut #1 guy in NBA circles.

Go read up and watch Jabari Parker, Julius Randle, Dante Exum, Aaron Gordon and the Harrison twins.  These are all guys that are said to be from day 1 starters in the NBA.

Do you really think Kobe and Nash would agree or let alone want to sit out the entire season?....  People need to stop with the idea of tanking.

First off how do you know that?  2nd Wiggins isn't the only highly rated player in this draft.  He's not even the consensus #1 pick

even if we tanked theres no chance on earth that the "lottery" goes our way, were not getting wiggins.

That is why I'm not worried or mad if we lose all our games and don't make it to the playoffs.( I don't believe in tanking at all either. just plain stupid) Having that top-5 player on a rookie contract while still having the flexibility to add two-to-three max contract players would be great for us. And it would help lore in those FAs too. Now getting Wiggins is still out of reach but a lottery.. is a lottery and anything can happen when you have a few ping pong balls deciding what is what. I'm loving Dante Exum been watching him since he was 17. With that first step and that lateral quickness on that 6'6 body and 6'9 wingspan he can be scary on both ends of the floor. He is basically a tall ass Westbrooke.

Don't need to worry about tanking. This team is going to be mediocre enough even with Kobe to probably end up in the lottery. Even if the Lakers didn't end up with Wiggins, there's a lot of good talent in this draft if LA keeps getting stomped every night.
