No, he's got butterfingers and is clumsy with the ball.

So he's a great one on one defender?

You know who Pau reminds me of these days? Antonio McDyess...Dyess in his Detroit/ Spurs days couldn't play D, couldn't hit shots but he was just a solid 3rd big who could spell minutes for Duncan and whoever was the other starting PF/C was. Thats who Pau is right now, hes not starter material, too many holes in his game and very unreliable

Pau is trash, I'm done defending anymore. So apathetic on the court it's contagious to the rest of the team.

Shooting 37% from the field for the season right now as we speak. Bad enough for a guard, but for a 7 foot center? Yeah...

yo.

Lol it's funny how you guys are answering back by comparing both ex and active players. Chris webber's job now is a critique. So bringing up his no is irrelevant

Clearly Gasol no longer has the skill set or even the competitve drive to carry himself on as an elite player. Good news is that he's an expiring contract, either trade him sometime this season or they're letting him go next offseason

I am not defending Pau in any stretch.  His play has been very bad.  He has been put into a role that does not suit him though.  He is a finesse 7 footer who has, until this year, always had the power big man playing alongside him as a Laker.  So we ask him to play more of a power big man role in the latter years of his career and this is what we get.

No way he is worth the contract, but we are paying for the championships he got us not the future.  That's how it works in sports and life. The old geezers make the money while the young guys do the work.

Cue Windu for expletive filled but nonsubstantive response ....

Sure... we're ask him to play the power big man roll.... of pick and rolling to the basket which is precisely what he did during the Lakers championship seasons and isolation posts up which he also excelled at  -_-

We're asking Gasol to do precisely what he's best at.

Can the "system" excuse be done with now?

^Not a "system" statement at all.  Pau is the starting C now right?  At what point in his Laker career has he been the starting C?

2008 Bynum

2009 Bynum

2010 Bynum

2011 Bynum

2012 Howard

He has always had the power big man right next to him.  He now gets to bang with the opponents' big man night in and night out, that's all I'm trying to point out.

In 08 and 09 Bynum was injured at the midway point and Gasol carried the center position into the playoffs and finals without Bynum for the most part.

Nice try.

Phil used Lamar more even when Bynum was healthy.

I think he played mostly C in Memphis too.

BTW, it's hilarious to hear the argument that he needs to be put back at PF.

Weren't his fans saying that him being put at PF was the reason for his struggles since the 2011 postseason?

Pau hasn't been the same since the trade was vetoed.
