  1. Someone brought up 6th man of the Year to Nick Young, all smiles, he said "That's my goal"

One thing we knew was when Kobe returned that Young was gonna moved to the bench but then we wondered if he was going to be starting with Kobe a majority of the time, but now with the emergence of Xavier Henry and Young's symmetry with the bench it seems he's accepting his new role with the team and wants to excel at it.  Good to hear really, it looks like we know who our starting 3 is, it's Xavier Henry if Young is conceding starting by saying he wants to be 6th man of the year.  We shall see how that goes.  Honestly it seems to suit him for he to be the guy that can score off broken plays for our bench unit.  Xavier seems to fit with the starters very well and we can always switch them out if we need a different look.  Today was a positive sign with Young, however as is always the case with him it will come down to consistency.

I'm unsure if that goal is reachable though, because 6th men of the year usually play 30 mins a night to get their numbers and are more or less starters that come off the bench.  13/4/4 isn't bad coming off the bench.  But he's gonna have to do that much more often.   Glad it's his goal to accept this role and excel at it.     Nice for the locker room in general considering why he's here.
If he wants it he needs to be consistent.  Thus far he's had 2 good games and two bad games this season. We'll see what this new bench role does for him.

Nick Young coming off the bench as the scorer of the second unit really is a good idea and while the 6th man award may be a bit out of reach I think he'll thrive.

You know what they say about goals, "go out and get them!"

If we can have him as our 6th man, if Meeks, farmar and kaman can all contribute like they have been. Along with Pau putting up all star numbers close to what he has been and get something out of Nash and Kobe comes back strong. We could be good. I want to see Xavi go up against some keep doing what he's doing for us. I also want Kobe to get back by thanksgiving hopefully. This team is one of those teams like the Boston Red Sox were with Kobe playing the role as Big Papi. LETS GO LAKERS!!!!(

I'd say our bench looked pretty darn good, in general, 48 points, our bench is indeed for real, if Nick achieves that goal of being the 6th man of it, then it's a good sign all around for the production of it in general with it.  Having a scorer that can get us a shot off broken plays is something all benches need.   Having on top of that a strong bench is even better so I like the move in general, it just makes our bench that much better.   And Xavier with our starters especially with his style it benefits him a lot as a slasher and as a spot up shooter.

So all and all this was a good decision.  I'm glad Young is embracing it this way, it's a good attitude to have.

In that stretch a game it would be possible for a good team to go 0-4.

We went 2-2 and controlled most of 3 games. We aren't that good in the second half  or to close games, and that was a problem for Denver two seasons ago , but they got better at it last season, we are a 10 deep team constructed in a lot of ways like that Denver team and I think the exception is our bigs aren't as nimble and explosive, and our vet pg starts while our speedy one comes off the bench, but when Kobe returns, our starters will hang with any starting unit, just off guile and savvy and our bench is amongst the best in the league.

Henry and Kobe I believe can Co exist, Henry loves to cut and can excel off Kobe. Although Henry is best with the ball in his hands, he needs to improve more on his spot ups.

If he wants to win the Sixth Man of the Year, he must step up and become more consistent.

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

It is sure is refreshing this season to hear about positive attitudes. Dwight gone and all the drama that came with it. The new players don't have Dwight's skills, but the team first mentality is awesome.

Nick Young just please don't jack up a million shots.

We'll be fine when Kobe comes back.

I love seeing him off the Bench, gives more spark off the bench, he was struggling when he was in the starting lineup

I agree, this team first mentality is a breath of fresh air.

Nick Young came in wanting to be a starter, but he is moved to the bench for Xavier.  Does he complain?  No.. he says he wants to go for Sixth man of the year if he's gonna be coming off the bench.

I really love the atmosphere in the locker room as of right now.

Impressed with Nick demeanor, not his shot selection.

Can the guy even post up?

I am no NY fan, but agree that the attitude is a breath of fresh air this year.  When (not if) Dwight blows up another locker room, what will his excuse be the third time it has happened?

That he's still a winner.

I'm almost sick to death of this Nick Young shot selection thing

One, e does post up but how many opps will he get on this team? Be smart.

20 Show me some bad shots he has taken this season, and then show me 1 SG or scorer who doesn't take bad shots.

Kobe, Sasha,Meeks, in recent memory. Shannon for sure. Jamal Crawford, Reddick. I can go on and on, because most Sgs take bad shots at some point in the game. You have a couple who don't like Joe Johnson but for the most part that's basketball. They are all great players in their minds, and you won't see the type of basketball that mid-major colleges like Butler run.

That's why pro basketball is worldwide. the ballet of it all and Nick Young is to Kobe  what Kaman is to Gasol and Blake is to Nash.

I like this team

21 points 8/12 off the bench.

Looks like he was serious about it.

Too bad he was the only one up to task tonight offensively.

Bench in general had 72 points tonight.
