Xavier Henry will start for Lakers in place of Nick Young.

Good.

Now start farmar and we might actually have a productive starting squad.

Wow... I'm guessing Xavier is gonna start with the bench?

Actually like this really.  We'll see how Xavier does as he starts but I want to see how our bench unit is gonna be running without him because against the Spurs the bench unit with Young instead of Xavier is the one that gave up those points, let's see how Nick takes this benching and responds to it.

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter

D’Antoni has been very pleased with Henry’s development and play, clearly, and thinks Young could find success as a bench scorer.

Logical that Young can play more his game without sharing touches with Nash and Gasol. Henry's drives give slower starters some penetration.

I agree.  And being on the bench pairs Nick Young with Farmar!!!  Allows him to play the fast pace, peanut butter and jelly.

My only worry is that Young is trying defensively this year but he isn't the defender that X is.  Part of the reason that bench mob gets on so many runs is because of the turnovers Henry and Johnson cause together.   But having Young with the bench does give the bench a second reliable scorer alongside Farmar. So the bench lineup is going to be

Farmar
Meeks
Young
Johnson
Hill?

eh.... I'll wait and see.    I think the defense of our second unit is what causes teams so many issues  and X is a key piece to that imo so we'll see what happens.

Good.

Then you wouldn't have a fast bench silly -_-

Sucks for farmar though. I still believe he is a starter worthy. Its time to give him some big minutes

They are starting Nash and Blake together to give Farmar bigger minutes.   It's so that we don't choose between him and Blake when the second unit comes in, as of right now that's Farmar's unit, when they go on runs he stays in.  It's not like we switch to second unit, try out Blake for 8 minutes and then switch to Farmar after halftime etc.

While I also think Farmar should start, considering the long spurts of time Nash is out of games, it evens out favorable for Farmar in the end. Happy to see Henry starting, and I also don't mind Hill coming off the bench as long as he logs hefty minutes.

Either Steve Blake and Nick Young will breakout, or Steve Nash and Nick Young will finally get their game together.  Hoping it's Nash rather than Blake because his game has been tremendously disappointing up to this point.

4th game and second starting lineup.

This is what camp is for D'Antoni, to find your rotations. You don't burn regular season games screwing around with players' roles and the lineups like this.

With every passing game I hate D'Antoni more and more.

Somehow I don't think Williams is starting if not for the whole Kaman not being able to get off the toilet.

Because anyone else that really missed time was guys on our bench.  Our bench has an identity.  Hated losing Kaman because it seemed that's where D'antoni was headed towards till we got back from China and the bad shrimp took it's tole.  We see some stretches with Kaman and Gasol though.   Would rather Kaman and Gasol start, that lineup doesn't work without Nash and his back screens though.

Thus far it only took 3 games for Xavier to be in the starting lineup.  We'll see how long WIlliams lasts.

However like I said, Williams is striking me like the guy who starts but only plays 14 mins a game setting the table for the actual people to come in.   He starts, picks up whatever fouls he does, plays whatever defense he does.  Then when he goes to the bench the second unit comes in and goes to work.    I'd honestly like to see him at the 3 once in a while.

But Xavier is the three and I'm guessing Blake and Nash are starting so Farmar has the entire bench lineup to himself and isn't splitting minutes with Blake when the bench comes in.  So we'll see what happens there.   Hated losing Farmar in the pre-season but we knew he was gonna be the backup point guard so that was solidified.   Hated losing Nash but we know what his job was gonna be.  Wesley too but he is doing very well off the bench.   The only thing that hurt us with guys missing time was Kaman missing the last stretch of the pre-season.   Everything else seems to have it's place except who the starting 4 is going to be.    Obviously D'antoni doesn't want to start Hill because then we can't run small ball with our second unit.  So what it comes down to is between Williams and Kaman imo.

Ultimately I want Kaman and Gasol to start next to each other so that Hill can be backing up both bigs as the backup 5.  That seems to work best.  Williams can always be part of bigger or defensive lineups if we want to stick him on some of the bigger 3s for his defense.

Nothing wrong with him having the bruiser defender off the bench role imo but as a starter I'd go with Kaman despite defensively it could be a pain as Williams is a better defender than Kaman.

Agree but given the mass change in players and roles, it was to be expected, if not would've required a much longer pre-season for more adjusted roles. Even if player become better situated, all will out the window once Kobe comes back

Key to the game is guarding Korver as well as stopping Milsap.

Rebounding is a no brainer.

bench needs to keep momentum and Young MUST have a good game!
