Fantastic actors, fantastic performances. Brutally as real as it gets.

97 on metacritic

96 & 93 on Rotten Tomatoes

Yeah, it tackles a similar subject to Django Unchained, but obviously in a whole lot more dark, complex, & serious way. Looks like this & Gravity are two of the top movies of the year.

I'm a big Fassbender fan though. I expect he's amazing in this.

have you seen the tv series roots? i obviously haven't seen this movie yet, but that tv series to this day is my favorite when it comes to the whole subject of slavery in america, the acting in that series was just brilliant

django was kinda silly for me, and it really wasn't that great for me, not bad but not great either

Django was a great movie, incredibly directed and acted

But this was better and different. Tackles it from a different angle and the acting is nothing short of incredible. Everyone in this movie gives performances worthy of an Oscar. The direction and cinematography in this movie is equally incredible. Everything about this movie is just top notch. This movie will go down as the enduring depiction of slavery, because it does it through the eyes of one man so you see the full effect of slavery

9.5/10 movie. -.5 for dragging in parts. McQueen should have cut some stuff off the movie

Have not, but I've heard nothing but great things about it. I have to try to get around to it someday.

^ How brutal would you say it was? Was it pretty extreme or did they seem to hold back a little?

Realistically brutal, not overdone or senseless. Perfect. There was brutality when it made sense

It's a character piece, as well as a look into how cruel humans can be

Every single person in this movie is just incredible

Ejiofor, cumberbatch, fassbender, Pitt, giamatti

It's a lock for best picture and Ejiofor is a lock for best actor

Fassbender has a shot at supporting actor

Got the Screener for this flick. Every actor in this movie was phenomenal. I expect it to win many awards.

it was pretty good. Though it seemed to just want more of shock value than anything. Not much character development. 7/10 personally. Kinda seemed like a rushed and more brutal version of roots. I could barely tell it had been 12 years.

I think the acting was by far the best part. All actors did a great job.

A lot of people feel Ejiofor will win for Best Actor.   If he wants to win, he better hope the voters don't watch Dallas Buyers Club.  Just sayin.
