It looks like the Clippers are tired of having their home games look like they’re in the building of another team. Even with the Clippers branding on the court, in previous seasons in Staples Center, all one would have to do is to look into the rafters to see all of the Lakers championship banners and retired jerseys — something the Clippers have yet to do at Staples Center.

This year, however, the Clippers have decided that enough is enough. No, they’re not going to hang their own banners. They’re just going to cover up the Lakers banners during home games. It’s still not clear whether the Clippers will hang the banner for their first ever Division Title (Blake Griffin has said that he doesn’t want the team to do so), but one thing is clear — Clippers fans won’t have to look at the storied history of the Lakers in the rafters. I wonder if they’ll cover photos from championship parades and title games all around the arena as well.

I get why they're doing it, but really Clippers, just move to your own arena already.

It's pitiful.  Their logo mimics the Lakers, the arena is in Lakers (and Kings) colors and now they have to go to these lengths to establish an identity in their "home" arena.

Just leave town Clippers, please.  If your own identity is what you're suddenly after, move.  No matter what you cover up, you will forever be the Lakers little brother as long as your logo remains the same and you play in L.A..

Enough already.

They can do what they want, I just find it disrespectful to cover up the retired numbers that include Chick Hearn's jersey.

Clippers and their fans will be pissed once the Lakers find something of theirs worth a damn to cover up.

They don't like it, move back to Anaheim, move back to San Diego. Or better yet, move outta California.

They should've moved back to Buffalo where they can call their own when they had the chance couple years ago.

It'd be much easier if they had their own arena.

Move back to Anaheim?  They've never been there in the first place.

San Diego can't and won't support a basketball team and with the Nets in Brooklyn, moving to the New York area isn't going to happen.  It's Anaheim or Seattle, both would be a huge thing for the franchise.  Anaheim would draw from three markets, Orange County, L.A. and some in the San Diego area.  Seattle would be in a frenzy over the team and the merchandising alone would be astronomical.

But, Sterling won't let the L.A. thing go.  He is obsessed with it being in L.A..  The ownership of the Anaheim Arena offered him, his friends and the team, helicopter service to and from every game, since he said he didn't want to move because his friends wouldn't go to the games then.

Instead, he dooms the team to little brother status until his ownership tenure is up.  The Clippers could win 15 championships and still be considered a little brother to the Lakers, that's just how stupid playing in the same market as the Lakers is.  Not to mention piggybacking into the same arena and copying the logo.

It's ridiculously bad ownership.

This is disrespectful to the Lakers organization, previous players and their true fan base.

Urban Raptor, I'm sure you could find a more intelligent, less vulgar analogy.

No point in covering the banners. They'd still know the Lakers' achievements.

This isn't a big deal honestly, it'll only be covered when they play their home games and since they don't have any championships they used players.

This mentality reeks of doubt and lack of self belief by the Clippers organization. I guess they will cover the Sparks and Kings banners as well lol. I feel for the Clippers. Everyone in the building they share, have won the BIG one except the Clippers lmao. Lets cover everything up so we dont feel inferior. All this success reminds us that we are the only failures that play in Staples Center lol. I guess we should cover the Clippers championship banners up at our home games ....... oh wait they dont have any haha. They do have 1 division banner but are to ashamed to hoist it. The press they will get from this will be more negative then positive. It really looks like sour grapes from them. Those banners should motivate Clippers and fuel them to hoist 1 themselves. Not hide them and pretend they dont exist. I thank them for only fuelling our team more though!!!

I understand why they're doing it. Wish they'd just play at the Honda Center though.

Go ahead and cover them up... it's not like anybody is going to forget that they are there.
