I know this was sorta part of the same link for the ranking of current players, but I felt that that's enough of its own topic & discussion such as this specific subject & topic is as well. What are your thoughts on those assessments? More disrespect or fair?

[expletive] ESPN. There is a bias against California on the East Coast. If you've ever lived in the South or the East you see it

Kobe is top 5. Comfortably.

I don't think I've seen any player in NBA History do so much yet receive constant disrespect the way Kobe has. It's outright ridiculous. This is a fact.

Jordan and Kareem. That's it.

You can make a factually based argument for Kobe being better than any other player in NBA history. Based off longevity and the # of rings and the accomplishments he has yet to grasp, the guy is well on his way to cementing his legacy as a top 3 player of all time. AT LEAST.

10 players ranked COMFORTABLY ahead of Kobe? Does the columnist who wrote that have Twitter? He can not get away with that. That's stupidity being displayed at its fullest extent.

Done with ESPN. The disrespect that that website and their writers give Kobe Bryant is downright despicable and tarnishing to the man's legacy.

Its understandable if Kobe can't be ahead of Jordan, Jabbar, Russell, Magic, and Bird but to put Duncan and Shaq ahead is just not right.

Kobe not ahead of even Russell?  Are they serious?   Johnson, Bird, Duncan, Wilt ahead of him?

A few years down the road, the same experts will say that LeBron James will be ahead than Kobe Bryant.

ESPN will never give Bryant his due. They will try their best to discredit Bryant's accomplishments, which is unfortunate.

This is my take on the All-time rankings:

right now with all things considered,

1. MJ

2. Kareem

3. Kobe

4. Magic

5. Wilt

6. Bird

7. Duncan

8. Hakeem

9. Shaq

10. Lebron

If Kobe gets one more ring he surpasses Kareem in my list, and with 2 it's MJ's turn.

If Lebron gets one more ring he will jump ahead of Shaq and maybe Hakeem too. With 2, he's 5th. And if he can manage 3, I'll have to put him in Top 3. (with either MJ-Kareem or MJ-Kobe). But I don't think he can manage 3 more. He won his fist title in 9th season. By 9th season Kobe went to finals 4 times and won 3. That is why it will be harder for him to equal Kobe and Magic. He can only manage so many years. Remember he already went to finals 3 years in a row. In order for him to win 3 before he is 32 he needs to win ECF 6 times in a row, then also beat the Finals opponent. Think about Pacers and Bulls again. No way unless somehow Durant ends up in Miami. If he actually accomplishes this scenario, though, he is ahead of Jordan. After 32, it will be very hard for him to dominate the league with Durant, Rose and other players in their primes. He will need a very very good side kick. (Kyrie prime?)

I wish we could have seen Kobe and Lebron go head to head in one finals run when they were still good. Lebron robbed us off that fun in '10.

Let's be honest here. Kobe will never be appreciated as much as he deserves. Frankly, I don't care about where he ranks exactly, but to put him outside of Top 5 is just ridiculous. Every 9 out of 10 should put him in his Top 5. They still treat him like it is 2004.

Arnowitz is a complete d-bag.

MJ, Kareem, Wilt, Russell. Those are the only ones you comfortably can rank ahead of Kobe IMO.

As I said in the earlier thread, Kobe has to be top 10 all time based on almost any metric, I have him in my top 5 at this point actually. ESPN just made themselves look stupid with these comments and ranking him 25th. I mean he's almost done with his career, the media should be celebrating his greatness not trying to undermine it.

I can understand being left of top 5 because it really is about preferences at that point but out of top 10 is criminal, besides typical ESPN love affair with James.

Although I do think people on here think far too little of how great Bird truly was.

Kobe Bryant 25th best. What a joke ESPN is. And Kobe not belonging in the Top 5? I can't believe I read all that.

Stop overrating Russel.....he would be above-average in the league today.....nothing special.
