Only you get off Meeks and Blake is if Pau is packaged with them.  That's about 28M in expirings.  Considering Pau has a 15% trade kicker.  Even still what team is giving up 28M in value?

We need to keep all options open this season and if we can land someone who can contribute going forward we should pull the trigger.

Blake can be valuable for many teams in need of depth at the guard position and so can a guy like Meeks and since both could struggle finding minutes this season with guys like Farmar, Henry and Young around, a trade would be the way to go.

Luke was traded with a 1st round draft pick as well.  That luxury isn't there.

How did we trade Luke?

meeks is an expiring, and a shooter. Some team has use for him, I mean you guys obviously don't learn ffrom the history of the league or your cynicism blinds you from the REAL

By him being Bill's son. The same way he got drafted and stayed in the league this long

At the halfway point of the season you'll have a better understanding of where this team is heading. If we suck then unload these guys for possible picks

It has to be sooner than that. The deadline is in February but if Kobe isn't back around Christmas, if we're below .500 or if one of the key pieces get a serious injury, I think we have to go in fire-sale mode.

I'm mean, if it looks like we're going to miss the playoffs, we might as well do it right and miss it by a mile.

We can't trade back to back draft picks with the new CBA.  Lakers have to draft this year.

Can we draft for someone?

I think in this new CBA the small market teams are going to be battled by the Lakers and all their affiliates and The Celtics and all their affiliates

Lakers---

Grizz(Pau/Marc)

Heat(Pat Riley,Shaq trade-Caron who led to Gasol)

GS(Jerry West tbd)

Shaqremento(tbd)

Celtics---

Rockets

Clippers

Nets

Its why the Celtics hate the Heat SOOO bad
