I wouldn't be surprised at all if we don't make the playoffs, especially if Kobe misses time. Spurs, Thunder, Clippers, Warriors, Grizzlies, Rockets, Nuggets. That's 7 teams already that will easily be better than the Lakers I believe. Best case scenario to me is the Lakers make the playoffs as the 7-8 seed, and that means someone from that top 7 has to have something go wrong and everything for the Lakers has to go pretty much perfectly. Maybe the Rockets won't gel with Dwight, maybe Denver has a down year without Iggy and George Karl. I don't know, it takes some very wishful thinking to imagine a scenario in which the Lakers are anything better than the 8th seed, and even that is a difficult proposition. Just my opinion. I don't think what the glove is saying is blaspheme

Hahahahahaha...So we'll be ahead of SAS, LAC, GS, MEM, OKC or HOU? That's wishful thinking at best.

I think SAS could get the injury bug based on Manu, Tony and Tim's history and just cuz Leonard is young doesn't mean he'll be there all 82.

Men lost a head coach and now a full year with no Rudy.
GS was one game better than us last season and we were horrible for our standards.

Its possible. And my number one concern for injury is the Chris Paul-Blake Griff lead Clippers.

So basically your whole post is based on IF other teams catch the injury bug but someone magically we won't...I think history shows that Nash and Pau are going to have another year of issues before those other guys will, especially Nash

^ This (minus manu - he's prone). beef up the training staff lakers, please!

Better place than most to spend 1/2 a million imo

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health (looks pretty good so far), 2. High Draft Pick (Randle...injured game #1.*sigh*) 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of, Davis, nice upside!), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!...but the jury is out)

I love some here are overrating other teams and underrating ourselves. MEM, OKC got worse btw..

And we didn't?

No. We lost a talented player, but gain overall team speed, youth and depth.

You talk about Pau but getting rid if Metta AND Jamison helps our offensive flow and transition D a whole lot.

We retained Mike D'Antoni and Pau Gasol...those are not positive things.

We lost arguably the best player in the NBA (when healthy)...this is not a positive thing.

Yeh, we gained some solid role players (Farmar NOT being one of them) but the negatives outweigh the positives.

Hope u meant Kobe.

You saw Dwight right? Great in a system all about him. Not great against great competition.

Opinions are like noses--everyone has one.

Lakers won 46 games last year with Kobe, Howard and Metta.  Two out of the three are gone.  Kobe won't be back for a while.  Every other team in the West improved.  The Lakers took a couple steps backwards.

I just don't seeing the Lakers winning much over 42 games this year, and in fact that would be incredible.

5th - 8th seed this season. The only way they dont make playoffs is if the curse of achillies occurs again.
