BTW, I played with this one too and all it does is freeze, and lag. I wouldn't suggest it to my worst enemy.

Interesting because I got this one about two weeks ago and it's been flawless for me. We use it daily since it's our only source of TV now with XBMC. Even the Android part of it works great, apps including games run perfectly.

We got a HTPC Mini Keyboard with built-in trackpad to go with it and it's easily 5 Stars for us

LakersFanatic, on the XBMC for Android TV, do you have to add 1Channel, IceFilms, etc.etc...?
And how good is the quality when streaming live sports events?

This is the same thing?

I contacted that company because I wanted it cheaper as well. However, here are the differences.

One is in Hong Kong, and you will probably wait 30-40 days for it to arrive. That, and you will pay shipping. Also, it doesn't include a remote or the configuration. You will need to install XBMC, Skype and all the other apps, and then configure XBMC with your favorite addons.

The one I bought is pre-configured with all the best addons, including 1Channel and IceFilms. It is based in LA. I'm in montreal and waited 2 days. You could probably get it overnight if you're in the states lol. It came with a full keyboard/mouse remote which is very good quality. The one I got, you plug into the TV and you're good to go.

The Chinese one, you pay barely less once you consider shipping. You wait a lot longer. and once you get it, will need to configure it completely which could takes hours if you don't know what you're  doing.

As for the live sports, I won't say it's HD because it isn't lol. But it's more that decent and varies depending on your link. Same quality you would see on your computer. The machine itself supports 1080P, so if you get a 1080P link, then it will be in HD. However you won't find a free stream in HD lol, but it really isn't bad. Pretty good for free sports on your TV

Cool & thank you for the info. I'm really tempted into getting one. Perhaps as a Christmas gift for myself.

This XBMC app seems a little too good to be true for me. How can this legally and easily be sold if it is allowing the streaming of good quality movies, and why don't more people know about this?

Not doubting it, I just have to question certain aspects of it.

You're surely aware of all the streaming sites that are out there. XBMC just provides an easy to use interface to connect to these sites through your tv.

Just FYI you guys,

I spoke to the guy from eBay about getting others, he told me that if I were to get more (Christmas gifts), that I'd be lucky because he's out of the basic remote for 2 weeks, and is forced to give you for free the better one.

This is probably a dumb question but, do need active subscriptions to programs such as netflix and hulu plus to access their content? And watching current shows is done with an app? Or is already set up to go? Can you watch live tv? Online game streams?

Sorry, I haven't done as much research as I'd like to. This thread is holding my attention though.

Netflix required sub, hulu doesn't but you don't get access to everything.

XBMC is like a app that pulls free streaming links from the web so you can easily find what you want.

Sports is the only thing lacking quality wise. Expect SD streams unless you get a ball stream account and use that.

Live TV is possible with certain ADD Ons as well

Thing is though, with XBMC installed and configured the way it is in these units, you don't need netflix and hulu. there hasn't been one show or movie that I've wanted to watch that I haven't found within minutes. It's all sorted so well, and you could just use the search function. Really no reason to get subs with netflix and hulu.

As for sports, you could browse to websites and stream whatever you want, but as Draztik said, it'll be watchable but not great quality.

What I did though is get a League Pass sub and asked the seller to install the NBA app for me on the unit, which he did no problem.

So I do stream in HD now.

You can. But you'll need to know how to install the add-ons

http://www.nba.com/leaguepass/

allows you to pay a sub to watch all the games of the season.

And then, I login through the Android TV, and I could watch games in HD

LF, what do you mean a  League Pass sub?

Ball Streams works with Android and XBMC as well and is cheaper than LP.
