Deadline reports that Fox has closed a deal for a television series centered around none other than the Dark Knight's ally Commissioner Gordon. Called Gotham, the show focuses on Gordon's early years as a detective on the Gotham City police force, and while it will include some of Gotham's most famous villains it will reportedly not feature Batman himself.

I'm extremely interested in who some of those "Gotham's most famous villains" will be. The possibilities are exciting.

^ Does kinda suck obviously, but it probably has to do with major rights issues, money, & what not, but hey, if they can at least get some of Gotham's most notable villains as they say, that sounds intriguing enough. Plenty of potentially great characters to choose from.

It's not rights because DC is behind it regardless. It's more to do with WB and DC not wanting confusion between their TV and Movies

What this means is we won't see Gordon in the movies for a whole

Smallville wanted to put Bruce wayne in for a couple episodes but WB stopped it because of batman begins and they didn't want confusion

They aren't completely stringent on this but they do take it into account.

^ Nice. I like the look of the guy said to play the Penguin. He's got a bit of a creepy look to him:

Gotham-TV-Show-Fox-Logo.jpg

  • Gotham is an “origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes” – and the plot synopsis confirms the show plans to cover the “circumstances” that create Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker
  • Gordon’s father used to serve Gotham as District Attorney – and the rookie detective, who is engaged to Barbara Kean, “hopes to restore the city back to the pure version he remembers it was as a kid.
  • Partnered with the “brash, but shrewd police legend” Harvey Bullock – Gordon is assigned to investigate the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne. In the process, Gordon meets the sole survivor: Bruce Wayne.
  • Bruce Wayne is described as a hauntingly intense twelve-year-old son – toward whom Gordon feels an “inexplicable kinship.”
  • Following Gordon as he rises through the ranks at the GCPD, Gotham will also “focus on the unlikely friendship Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune.” Additionally, the plot synopsis suggests the show will chronicle “the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

‘Gotham’: Detective Harvey Bullock Official Image & New Character Details

Gotham-TV-Show-Harvey-Bullock-Actor-Dona

Jim Gordon’s partner and mentor, the rough-around-the-edges Detective Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue – Sons of Anarchy, Vikings, Copper) plays loose with police procedure, but gets results — and he does so with old-school, hard-ass panache.
