Wow defense came through at the end, shocked Nate didn't take any shots while closing the game out.

Shaw tried to "win" again but our 1st and 2nd unit gave us enough of a lead that they couldn't come back all the way =p

Alright but what have we learned?

That lineup of Gasol and Kaman has BY FAR been our best starting lineup thus far(minus Meeks)

The bench unit with Jordan Hill as the 5 also worked tremendously!   Hill yanked down 12 rebounds in 18 minutes.   It seems to suit him very well.

I think we've found a unit that really works, I want to see that second unit with Farmar and Iw ant to see that first unit with Wes instead of Meeks.     Hopefully we get that soon.

As bad as it sounds defensively it looked alright on the court

Landry is terrible still
The new Meeks. And we haven't even gotten rid of the real one

Wes starting at the 2 isn't good. He's strictly a 3 imo. Let Kobe, Young, Blake and Meeks worry about the 2 spot.

^ Pau & Kaman playing well together.

Steve Blake probably had the best game on the Lakers.

Jordan Hill finally looked like his old self. Very active & athletic on both ends of the floor.

Meeks struggled yet again, but Landry even more. Landry's pretty much done.

manaro showed good hustle for the most part & tenacity out there in his brief time.

Williams looked good again.

What is needed? Kobe pretty much.

Xavier had a down game finally with his jumper being off mostly. Should've probably looked to attack a little more. Got to the free throw line however a solid amount again. Still the best player in the totality of the three games so far based on what he did in the first two.

Wes starting at the 2 isn't good. He's strictly a 3 imo. Let Kobe, Young, Blake and Meeks worry about the 2 spot.

Xavier can't be a 2?

Xavier works best at the 3 imo when it comes to taking people off the dribble and such.

He seemed to get a lot of the 'closing' plays when we were down and they trusted him late.

I think 2-3 doesn't really matter in this system.   They can pair henry with young or with williams or with johnson and he'd be effective in all 3 lineups.

You wouldn't start Wes at the 2.  You'd start him at the 3 and move Young to the 2 so that in the Kaman and Gasol unit it would be

Nash
Young
Johnson
Kaman
Gasol

And then the second unit is

Blake / Farmar

Meeks

Xavier

Williams

Hill

that seemed to work very well for the most part.

In fact I'm pretty sure that's our best 11 man rotation when all is said and done.  Except Meeks will be replaced by Young when Kobe comes back.

For all intents and purposes we looked awesome offensively and defensively.

We blew them out with our starters and second unit. That's all that matters.

We don't exactly have the best defense, but it is a huge improvement from last year and that is exciting.
