Let's Talk About Cell Phones

HTC one is the best rated phone, but something about the UI threw me off when I played with one. I went with the GS4 because the Note is too big cause I actually felt really awkward holding the note to my face to talk on the phone.
I would go with the Note 3 if you don't mind the size, cause its HUGE. The GS4 is my favorite, but a GS5 should come out mid next year if you wanna just wait for that.
And don't get the GS4 for those air gestures. Its a great phone but I hardly use those features, and its PACKED with these all over. The HTC feels a lot better in your hand, and both phones are known to scuff up around the edges when dropped.
I wouldn't go with the iPhone. Its too simple for me, but if you just want a phone that's consistent with everything while being limited on the UI, go with it.

blazing fast with tasks. Excellent 13 megapixel camera. Great 1080p 5 inch screen.
The Samsung Note 3 is the latest, newest phone with the best current specs. Just pricy and massive in size(5.7 inch screen). If you dont mind those 2 things I'd go Note 3.
plus the new Nexus 5 is due out soon, contract free, should be competitively priced, also first to get Android updates directly from Google as well, usually way before any carrier branded phone, plus great hardware.

I appreciate you making this thread Windu. I've been long overdue for a cellphone upgrade (been using Samsung Wave for 3 years now). Also, thanks to everyone for their inputs. I find it tedious going through all the reviews and leave myself still dumbfounded as to what phone I'm going to get.
RIP Dad. I miss you so very much...

Yeh I wanted to have a thread up with varying opinions on these phones. That way, I can always come back here and read everyone's thoughts before I make a decision.

IMO, the note seems more of a phone for a female cause you need a purse to carry that big of a phone.

IPhone is for people who love having a controlled and limited phone, which will do its job and avoid getting bugs and stuff like that.
Whereas Samsung phones or android in general are limitless. Everything is open source, and makes the phone be more easily adaptable to the future.
Between the s4 and the note 3, pretty much the only real difference is the size for the end user

I don't know what people find in Apple products. They are obviously good package due to coming out of one company but what they offer compared to other companies like Samsung is limited. Also I think at this point Google is more reliable than Apple. Their reach is ever growing and it gives you more options. That being said, I have a Nexus 4 right now and other than the camera features I don't think I will be missing much for next couple of years. Only other downside is the lack of additional storage which can easily be fixed if you are into cloud storage.

Is the Nexus something I should consider as well?
Posted October 12, 2013 - 09:05 AM
I think so, Nexus devices are the visions of Google on what a Android device should be. It's pure Android with no manufacturer skin or features over the top like Samsung with Touchwiz or HTC with Sense. I prefer the stock Android experience much more than anything OEM's will add on top of Android on their phones.
They get the newest versions of Android the same day it comes out if not maybe a week later max.
They are unlocked and off contract so for $350 you get a Nexus 4 while a S4 is what $199 with a two year contract?
The Nexus 5 is supposed to be a beast of a phone while still keeping it's price at $399 which is astounding considering a unlocked off contract S4 is I think $649.

Yeh, that no contract is appealing.
I guess all the specs I'm reading about the Nexus 5 are rumors or have some of them been confirmed?
