Where's Wesley Johnson's crossover?

Trade for Austin Rivers, say, Hill & Johnson.

You know all the passing, cuts getting easy shots.

Did we even take that many 3 pointers tonight?

D'antoni is our coach... and the offense we're running...

Is attacking on cuts, attacking inside, and mid range, we barely had to shoot threes tonight.

And we played with defensive tenacity as a team defense and was good at trapping and forcing guys baseline into our defense.. and actually most of the warriors makes were forced or tough shots.

We got back on defense, and Xavier said basically "Our offense is free, our defense is where we hang our hats"

WHAT IS GOING ON!!?!?!?!?

I like it :D

Could do without the turnovers but this team is getting used to running together that's gonna come with time but the fact is I like what I saw.

We took 85 shots tonight, only 22 of those were 3s, we didn't hit many threes tonight but attacked inside a lot and from the mid.

That's something I'm VERY happy seeing.

What I take away is I like the team defense, I like what I saw from Henry.     Meeks needs to not defend bigger 2s, and Wes shouldn't defend 4s.

So the changes the Lakers make I hope is that they primarily have Wes guard 2s and 3s, and Meeks guards 1s or undersized 2s in small lineups.

Aside from that clean up some turnovers and continue to get better and used to each other.

All and all we looked good out there.    Our bench held the Warriors starters under 60 points by halftime and kept them under 100 for the entire game and scored over 100.  Scored over 100 with no Kobe, no Pau and no Nash.

Xavier said that the team basically has an unselfish attitude and sees all of them as interchangeable pieces at any point in the game.

I like the hints at the style we are gonna be running, the extra passes and mid range shots and cuts I enjoy, we're not just hoisting threes all over the place, and it seems to be taking advantage of our teams strengths and the good shots we're getting as well as getting back on time is helpful to our defense.

I've always liked Steve Blake.

Also if these guys continue to show themselves to be this reliable or at least close to it more often than not.. Kobe may actually get to play LIKE A 2 this year..

We've had turn over problems and that hard-to-watch offensive drought in the 3rd quarter...but we are exciting and athletic. Having our big three out there will probably stop some of our out-of-control plays and keep us in contention with a lot of grit and energy on both sides of the court.

EDIT: I almost forgot, we had some issues with rebounds...

Lakers played pretty good , but wholly ish!! Watching a fast break from the lakers is like watching Dwight Howard shoot freethrows... you already know what's gonna happen.

Meeks played horrid and couldn't guard Iggy.
Wes should never guard power forwards and had a bad turnover but can hit mid range.
Xavier Henry looked like a diamond in the ruff.
Hill wasn't taken from the basket too much but it took him a half to get his legs back for rebounding(he was eating up rebounds in the 2nd half he was missing in the first).
Nick Young was setting people up and passing.
When Nick Young plays within the offense he looks GREAT when he breaks from the offense and is out of control he doesn't.   But had a few iso's under controlled today and had a solid game if not for those one or two times he lost himself.

Jordan Farmar after getting the jitters out of the way appeared very solid.
Sacre has a mid range shot.

The Warriors played their main squad for the first half while we played our bench.   We held them to about 40% shooting and went into halftime with a 57-60 lead.  Yes our bench outplayed the Warriors starters for the first half, and held them 1-10 from the three point line.

THANK YOU KURT RAMBIS!!!

Our team defense looked really good if not a bit overzealous sometimes which caused for some unneeded fouls.
Nick Young played defense, and sometimes was so tenacious on the defensive end he nearly fouled out before halftime lol.  (4 fouls) he was obviously amped up on BOTH ends.

Shawne Williams looks like he can do the 'tough guy' things as well as stroke the three though he didn't do the latter much today.
Kaman has a nice mid range stroke and a nice to the basket turnaround ala Gasol.

Blake didn't look to score much and looked to try to set up others, this sometimes looked good other times looked bad.

We need to work on the turnovers, but we got back on defense by the time a shot went up.
We caused a LOT of stops but in the first half, Hill was having some issues with that explosiveness on rebounds, and the Warriors got some second chance putbacks, Kaman too, but they got their legs underneath them eventually.

Henry should start at the 2 over Meeks.
Meeks looks like the weak link as near everyone had a better game than him, but he did hit the first three he took and ALMOST got a steal and he got torched by Iggy all night.

The Warriors not having Jarrett Jack or Landry hurts them immensely, they were exposed for their weak bench when you realized they had to rely on Bazemore and Klay Thompson doesn't look like he likes coming off the bench.

We didn't take many threes, most of our attacks were from the midrange, on cuts or inside.  The threes we did get were wide open, but we didn't shoot very many.  At least it didn't FEEL like we did.   The extra passes made for many entertaining plays once we found our rhythm.

Elias Harris is worth a closer look.  The out of bounds alley oop he had was NOICE.

If Nick Young can play under control for the most part like he did today he could benefit IMMENSELY from this system.  He had 17 before halftime on 5-7 shooting.

If the refs call it we'll get many more free throws from this system.

If our backups play with the kind of consistency they played with today at least most of the time, Kobe will have the chance to actually play like a 2.

We played great to halftime, at the start of the 3rd quarter, we tried a Meeks lineup, and we went 1-12 and Golden State came back and they got a lead.

D'antoni sat Meeks and put in Henry and Johnson, and we went on to stop the Warriors on 13 straight trips and came back to make it close before taking the game in the 4th quarter.

Xavier Henry had 16 4th quarter points, and is an AWESOME cutter although still green you can SEE the talent.  He's a diamond if we refine him and he's strong as well as lengthy and he fights for rebounds and isn't afraid of contact.    He's a cutter and a spot up shooter, if we take advantage of that we got ourselves a 22 year old gem.

All and all, solid performance by us.   We held them under 100 points while scoring over 100 ourselves.

105-95

Our bench scored  65 points.

Some of these new faces look pretty good, albeit in a preseason game.

Let's hope Xavier Henry keeps up the good work and Nick Young replaces the long 2s with 3s.

I was pretty impressed with the whole gamer

I hope Xavier Henry keeps it up. he looked strong, granted it was one game

Nick needs to slow it down and not to get in foul trouble, but was pretty efficent

Kaman is a good player in the post especially with that med jumper

Farmar looked good too

the Team defense looked solid. our B team beat the Warriors A Team basically up till the first half, since Curry and Bogut didn't play in the second

And Kaman complains on every call...in a preseason game!

Not that it matters much but Blake (3) didn't lead the Lakers in assists.

Farmar finished with a game-high 7.    ;)

it's basically lakers bench vs other bench

but i feel those are just as important at this point

from having cruddy benches year after year and seeing that they're obviously important, though not ALWAYS

the better the lakers bench is the better the lakers will be

important stuff
