D-Rose playing right now against John Wall I think. Might be on NBA TV.

Nvm Rose didn't play. Boring game because of that. Stopped my DVR about midway through the first.

Clippers looked impressive. They had stretches of glimpses of how good they may look potentially at times this season. Looks like they've already been buying in some to Doc.

Rockets vs Pacers right now.

Rockets came out on fire early, and the Pacers couldn't find a rhythm.

After halftime Pacers started making their perimeter shots and forcing the Rockets into tough shots and what was a 16 point lead is now a 2 point lead as the Pacers have come nearly all the way back in the 3rd quarter.

Dwight also has 5 fouls in these 3 quarters is he's sitting down.

Rockets interior defense has improved, but their perimeter defense which is where they got burned all of last year is still terrible.   Pacers are not a perimeter threat kind of team and still don't really have an offensive identity and try to grind out games.

But as of right now about 3 games in the Rockets look the same, except with Dwight in the middle.  Dwight still travels and is trying to post up too much, and their perimeter defense is still horrid, but if they get on fire from three they are a dangerous offensive team.

Pacers have seemed to find something that works against them defensively now though so Rockets are reduced to taking contested 3s or Harden trying to draw fouls.

Problem I see in the Pacers is even after a year and roster moves.  They still have no offensive identity and their offense is the same as it was last year.  Which was 'none'.  And because of that they don't seem to know how to use Copeland correctly at all.

I know.
 Honestly I'm disappointed in Indiana.

For never even attempting to learn an offensive scheme.

They are lucky they have so many isolation players that can get their own shot.   Because they sure as heck don't run any offensive scheme.

It's basically "Hey if you get the ball and can create your own shot, take it if you think you can make it."

It's rec center stuff with high level defense.

With as much improvement as Hibbert has made you'd think they'd be running more plays and screens for him.   Or more off screen plays for their guards and wing players etc.

It really disappoints me because this was the off-season to give the Pacers an offensive identity but their front office seems to think that as long as they play high level defense they could beat any team.

Problem with that is if you have no schemes, and you have no offense or even plays you run for your star players, then on the days your opponents are hot you get blown our and consistently.

That's why the Pacers can beat Miami 85-80 and then lose to the Wizards 115-89.

When you have weapons like George, Hill, West and Hibbert.

And guys off the bench like Stephenson, Copeland and Scola.

And you don't have ANY set plays for them after an entire off-season and your offense is basically "fight or flight" ... there's a problem

Indiana can't seem to guard the 3 this game. So many open looks and Mr. Casspi is balling. Gotta' have Israel proud.

Also gotta wonder what the Indiana coach is smoking.

Dwight has 5 fouls but they aren't playing Hibbert?

Or are they just playing their empty bench?

If that's the case Indiana's about to lose.  They have no idea how to run plays for Copeland or Stephenson and the Rockets can beat them by just shooting threes right now because Indiana has no kind of offensive structure to trade baskets with them.

This is the problem with the Pacers, they have no offense. Even with all those weapons, they still lack offense and think defense will get them everywhere.

I expect from Indiana to see right now in these last few minutes, a bunch of isolation shots that will likely miss, not more than one or two passes each Indiana possession before a shot goes up and the Rockets to hit threes and start to pull away.

It's preseason I guess. They clearly don't want to win.

Maybe Larry Bird should try to get involved more and help the team out on the offensive side of the ball a little.

You'd think, the last few minutes nearly every play was an isolation play for the Pacers, and I rarely if ever saw the ball passed around more than once, twice was a rarity.  That's a problem imo.

But that was how it was going in the 3rd quarter too, the thing was the Pacers were hitting shots but everyone was getting their own, they weren't exactly setting each other up.  That's gonna be a problem come the playoffs again.

^ It's a long season. We shall see, but agreed that it's certainly not an encouraging sign.

Wizards dominate Heat starters with no Nene or Okafor.

Wizards may be a dark horse in the East once everyone's healthy.

^ They're young & hungry. It's certainly possible.

I'll tell you what though that Kelly Olynyk from the Celtics has really been impressing. Hasn't let up since summer league. If he stays healthy & sees reasonable playing time, he may be a candidate for rookie of the year.

I watched Anthony Bennett in college at UNLV, and he is trash at defense. Lazy and walks back on defense. He is a baby and injury prone. His offense is good, but does not show up in big games.

The next al Jefferson ?

Damn it I missed the game. Had no idea it was on, nor on TNT. Heard a ton of guys didn't play though like Wade, D-Will, Kirilenko, & more. Plus the stars who did play didn't play much, but I'm still gonna' catch the replay. Nets whooped ass. Preseason or not, it's good to send that early message.

LeBron's post fadeaway looks the same.

ESPN is just deciding to focus on it as if it's something new.

Remember when they said LeBron added the "skyhook" when it was a basic hook shot?

^ This. Just more exaggerated Johnson sucking.

Clippers about to play in a bit. If you guys haven't seen them yet, I suggest you give their new team a look, especially if they decided to play some of their better guys. They already look quite different in my opinion with the new system in place, especially defensively.

It could get real ugly for us the first game as it much as it pains me to say.
