Based off 3 preseason games?

It might seem premature, but I feel that our bench is better and our starters play better together this time around. It's enough to give me confidence.

Confidence in a championship or confidence that they won't be dead in the water?

Like I said, I think we're good enough for a 15-13 start. I'm optimistic, but I'm nowhere near Majesty's level.

Im actually Kobe misses a few games just to see the team do work without so he understands how to work with the system in place, especially defensively.  Kobe tends to free lance way too much on D.  I think if the defensive schemes are effective and he sees this from the outside he will be more inclined to do what works.

No I mean 18-10

Reviving an old thread because we now have a game sample to better analyze with.  Majesty's 18-10 prediction still does not seem realistic to me, but I am more encouraged by some of the young guys than I thought I would be.  So what do the next 21 games look like now?

Minny-  tough game could go either way, but I think probably an L

NO-  W at home

Den- tough road arena but they are playing poorly, W

Mem- L at home they will destroy us inside

Det- W

GSW- L

Sac- L, much better team this year

Wash- L road game

Nets- L

Det- W

Port- L

Sac- L

Tor- W

Suns- W

OKC- L

Cats- L much better this year, road game

Atl- W

Mem- L

Minny- L

GSW- L

Suns- W

So I am thinking 8-13 between now and the Miami game, making us 11-17 overall.  We will win a couple that we are not supposed to and lose a couple that we are not supposed to.  Best I can see is about 13-15, hopefully Kobe is back but the tough part of the schedule kicks in then.

Washington, The Nets, and the Grizzlies haven't looked too good honestly,  neither has Portland, Sacramento is beatable by us.    OKC is probably the only loss I can see thus far going down the list, however they aren't looking very sunshiny either.    You're picking us to lose against the Bobcats too.

The only losses I see up there are Golden State, OKC and Minny possibly.   Grizzlies will be a grind it out game on both sides honestly.

The main thing that 18-10 was contingent on was Gasol playing well.  I don't think it entered anyones mind for him to be so horrid and shoot 35%.

If Gasol doesn't play at even a medium-high level, then your prediction is probably closer.

If we win 6 of the next 7 games it will be nice, but it won't happen if Gasol continues to play craptastic, he's the veteran we NEED to step it up the most right now.

I don't know the schedule ( home, away, days off) but this team can win 6 of 7 , probably win 4 to have us at .500

Well if we win 6 of the next 7 we'll be at

9-5

That'd be a nice spot for that moment.

If we won 4 of the next 5

Sac, Wash, Nets, Det, Port

It puts us at 13-6

If we won 3 of the next 5 instead we'd be at

12-7

It's amazing what one loss can change the record to looking at.

Now if you win 4 of the next 5 after that(at 12-7)

Sac, Tor, Suns, OKC, Cats

16-8

These quite honestly are winnable games for us and these are the kinds of teams we should beat even in the predicament we're in.

However it will not.. I repeat... WILL NOT happen, if Gasol keeps under performing.  it just won't.

^Bobcats at home are a tough out now.  Just ask the Knicks.  The Kitties have a real coach now, wait, where did he come from?  Anyone know anything about him?

This team isn't winning 6 out of 7 at any point this season w/o an elite Kobe

This team could easily win 6/7 with an elite Pau. I mean we won 2 out of 6 with a terrible Pau lol. The other game we won Pau played quite well (as well as the rest of the team)

But elite Pau isn't happening....but I hope he proves me wrong XD

Winnable games.....meaning 50 percent chance of winning. We're certainly not "favorites" against anybody. Without Kobe, 85 percent of the teams in the league are above or at our level.

Dirk is about as far gone as Pau in terms of health.

Monta is no better than Young in terms of shooting or scoring.

Marion is amazingly still relevant to an extent.  Carter is old and for the most part done.

They lost Collison, we have Farmar and Nash and Blake

They also lost Kaman who is on our team.

We have a deeper bench than theirs.

So I don't see the Mavs being better.  Our starting lineups are gonna be even for the most part and our bench trumps theirs.

Holiday is good, and a matchup between him and Farmar will be fun to watch.
If Davis can stay healthy he'll be good but he isn't going to outplay Pau at the 5 if pau himself is also healthy, he isn't ready for that matchup yet.

Tyreke Evans is a good addition but again, if he stays healthy and he'll be coming off the bench so we'll see the adjustment there.
But aside from Evans off that bench who is their biggest threat?  Rivers?
amazingly our bench still trumps theirs.    Farmar, Blake, Meeks, Kaman, Williams, Landry beats what they have in Tyreke and Rivers.  Our bench depth is a big reason why we can have early success.

I think you're also underestimating how much of an impact Young can make playing next to Nash and Pau in terms of both of them creating easy opportunities for him, the style we'll be playing in does wonders for players like him.

Twolves have Love(if healthy),  Rubio(if recovered),  Martin(lol), Pekovic is good, Williams...really???   Williams???   And they lost Chase Budinger again.

let's match them up

Point guard
Nash  / Blake / Farmar vs Rubio / Barea / Shved

Shooting Guard
Young / Meeks vs Martin / Jeffers

Small Forward
Wesley Johnson / Marcus Landry vs Hummel / Muhammad

Power Forward
Jordan Hill / Shawne Williams vs  Love / Cunningham

Center
Pau Gasol / Chris Kaman vs Pekovic / Turiaf  ...

Doesn't look so one sided does it ;)  And as far as Derrick Williams goes, Johnson looked the better of the two, not only that but when he got away from Minnesota and was actually given time in Phoenix he showed the upside people were expecting, Williams seems stuck in Minnesota with a coach that has no clue what he wants to do with him.

Denver also lost their COACH and shall be searching for that identity as well as the respect for Shaw while losing their facilitator as well as their defensive anchor in Iggy.  Getting nate robinson doesn't change that.    So YES losing Iggy IS that bad and on top of that they lost George Karl too.

You're overplaying some additions of other teams and downplaying the additions on the Lakers when they more or less are on even terms in a lot of them.     "arguably" ;)

Your 18-10 prediction doesn't look so good right now.

Well so far all the teams you talked about above have beaten the Lakers. Just waiting for the denver game and they are looking like the only thing you got right in your prediction since they are playing horrible. Well at least you got 1 out of 4 right. Unless Denver somehow beat us. Lol.

Btw Monta and Young are definitely equal when it comes to scoring.

Ellis is an great scorer compared to Young lol.  Majesty 18-10 tho.  15-5 in the next 20?  No way.
