Just in October the Lakers play three high level playoff teams, only one of which is on the road, the Warriors, and the Spurs swept the Lakers last year.  And the Clippers consistently manhandled them.  So I don't get the idea that the Lakers will be 3-0

I think October starts out 0-3 but maybe, just maybe, the Lakers could be 1-2.

KB back by Christmas is a optimistic dream imo. Ill stick with my original prediction of mid March. And thats still pushing it seeing how he just flew to Germany for another knee procedure. Things are gonna start compounding.

Kobe will be back before Thanksgiving. Easily

His PRP was a previously schedule procedure that he bumped up.

honestly, everybody who wants us to tank is wishing that Kobe misses a bunch of time and they don't cheer for their home team for some odd reason

I don't think that's the logic behind tanking at all.  Tanking is something mgmt does not necessarily the players.  I want to see how the team does and if they can perform well w/o Kobe I want them to make a push when he comes back if he's 100%.  If its all star break and they are fighting for the 9th or 10th place the best thing the FO can do is pull the plug and hope to get the best pick possible in a deep draft.  If Kobe comes back and they are dead the last thing he needs, the team/fans and the front office for the sake of 2014 needs from him is to try go balls out and re-injure himself for nothing.

I think this year is to experiment with journeymen to see who sticks for 2014, draft an impact player, go after a big name guy (most likely Melo) and then make a run for the title in 2014. No one is going to admit to that openly but it's quite obvious and there really isn't anything wrong with taking a minor setback for a major comeback.

Find myself agreeing with this fully. Really nicely phrased.

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health (a special 20th season, like he deserves), 2. Draft Picks Ballin (they better. Seems half the team hasnt played in league) 3. Miracle Move (We still need 2 more impact guys), 4. Hibbert (change of scenery and attitude sorely needed) 5. Upshaw (If he works out, mitch and jim and ryan deserve major kudos as the risk is minimal). Staples (some renewed energy in that building, been a total morgue last couple years)

READY FOR SEASON!

Kobe told Ramona Shelbourne he can't run yet.  I think we can forget about him being ready for the season opener.

After seeing the team for a few games.

Do ya'll still think 18-10 is unreasonable for the first 28 games of the season if Kobe decided to take till Christmas to get in shape should everyone remain healthy?

No because none of the starting players outside of guys trying to hold a starter spot are playing with any true regular season intensity.  Henry has surprised me a little and I hope the young guys do well but 18-10 is a 50 win pace w/o Kobe not going to happen.  I doubt even Golden St goes 18-10 in the first 28.

2012-2013 teams (GS 18-10,  Indy 16-12, Heat 20-8)  Take these first 28 from last year with a grain of salt but understand those teams are better than anything we are putting out this year especially w/o Kobe.  If this team can go 18-10 w/o Kobe they should be a 60 win team no question with him.  Not going to happen.

Unreasonable? I'd say more unrealistic.  But im cool with being wrong. I'd be even cooler with kobe coming back sooner and at 80-90% of old kobe if its safe to do so.

Kobe just said he needs about 3 weeks of conditioning. You still think that?

It's like they don't pay attention to what he says and the details.  If Kobe was going to be ready for opening night he'd be in training camp right now not to mention he hasn't even practiced with the team let alone ran on the hardwood.

I'm thinking I'd be happy with 15-13. This team is better than last season, but I want to stay cautious for the time being.

I do believe that our guys will fight hard to stay above that .500 mark at the least.
