Dwight's ego doesn't even sniff Kobe's. Kobe and Jordan have the biggest egos in sports history.

Kobe's ego didn't stop him from sacrificing for the good of the team and ultimately didn't stand in his way when it came to the team winning.

Kobe changed his style and sacrificed points to win championships in a style he hated initially.

Dwight refused to run that style for 60+ games of a season to do his own thing, complained about touches when he had the 2nd most in the league in the post, and refused to commit on what he was most effective at, and then bolted when he realized he wasn't good enough to take the team from Kobe.

Kobe and Jordan have gigantic egos but they aren't petty ones like Dwight.   Kobe and Jordan's egos come with the confidence of knowing how good they truly are and how hard they work.  Dwight's ego has to do with being pampered.

Third practice report

Good for the Lakers: @paugasol went through the whole practice today, and @SteveNash did most everything.

D’Antoni said he thinks this could he the “best year ever” for @paugasol, who will be heavily featured in all aspects of the offense.

Word around the team is that @JrFarmar has looked great on the first few days. Several people have mentioned it without prompting.

Another common observation: Shawne Williams has barely missed a shot thus far. He’s a guy to keep an eye on.

Asked @JrFarmar for a teammate that’s impressed him: “Wesley Johnson.” Said his length/athleticism on D + shooting has been impressive.

With Kobe it's all about STRENGTHENING & ENDURANCE right now...the tendon is set!

Shawne Williams has the skill set D'Antoni covets...think he will be the surprise of training camp! Moves with a PURPOSE & hits SHOTS

Good news out of Lakers practice: Pau Gasol participated fully, Steve Nash went through everything but a couple final drills

Mike D'Antoni on Pau Gasol: "I think he has at least five more good years, real good years, in him."

WILL POST MORE AS THEY COME!!!!

Pau Gasol, Steve Nash increase workload in Monday’s practice

After rehabbing all offseason on respective knee and hamstring injuries Pau Gasol and Steve Nash gradually progressed their activity level by participating in most of Monday’s practice.

Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni said Gasol completed all of Tuesday’s practice, while Nash went through most of it until sitting out of an unspecified drill toward the end of the session. Both Nash and Gasol have reported positive results from their respective rehabs, but the Lakers have taken a conservative approach toward using them in training camp to ensure they stay healthy.

“The biggest thing was he didn’t get healthy until the end of the year and he’s still playing through a a lot of pain,” D’Antoni said of Gasol, who averaged a career-low 13.7 points on 46.6 percent shooting. “But now it’s better trying to keep him healthy as much as we can and pain free. When your knees are hurt, it’s not easy to play. When he feels good, he’s going to be great.”

Gasol went through a procedure in May to repair the pain in his knee tendons. But he passed on playing for his native Spain in the FIBA European Championships this summer and hadn’t completed many basketball drills until the Lakers’ began training camp on Saturday. After saying Saturday he planned to sit out some of the eariy sessions, Gasol’s improved health has allowed him to do so otherwise.

Dwight actually doesn't have a huge ego. He's actually very insecure

You can tell in the way he handled everything. Kobes ego is unsurpassed but so is his self image

I would really like to see a starting lineup of

Nash

Swaggy P

Wesley

Hill

Pau

I also think this team can play.580 ball without Kobe. Would love to see Kobe rehab until at least XMAS

I would love to see Kobe rehab until he is ready to come back. There is no point in him rehabing till christmas if he is ready to play in November.  If he is physically ready to play then he should play delaying it would hinder rather than help. .

Kobes achilles is now healed all that is left for his rehabillitation is for him to build muscle endurance and strength and get into shape and what is it you always hear from players? Nothing can simulate a basketball game, so ultimately for Kobe to get to 100% he is going to have to play in games.

He'll probably run a lot of scrimmages with the team first.  Even right now he's doing what he can with them, whether it be in the film room, going through the basics of a play or out there getting up shots while the doctors watch.  As D'antoni said recently "he's not dunking while they're not watching him."   but the tendon is healed and stretched, it's about strengthening it and getting that explosiveness consistent.

I think many of you forgot how talented Pau is in the center position. I hope D'antoni doesn't stick him at the 4 again....

At the center position, he'll be offensively better than Dwight was, post move wise. And as we all know, great passer for the cutters.
