I hope he joins the D-Fenders :( I really like the guy as a person.   In case we need him we'd be able to call him up then.  Hopefully nothing would happen that would require that but I think having him on the D-Fenders with Kelly, Harris and Sacre would help.

We still have a long way through.. Preseason showed some effort and hustle on both ends, but we still lack a reliable scorer.. until kobe comes , and if healthy enough. We'll have hard time scoring. Yes we developed a team ball but it wont cut it. No one showed constant scoring for the whole 8 games , if i'm not mistaken.

Nonetheless, effort on both ends and the hustle were the brightest spot. the team illustrated thus far how versatile they can be. We could run different line-ups and thats an upgrade over last year. Once Young becomes a scoring threat (17-23 ppg), we can do some damage in November. 6 wins is good tbh.

He can't leave the bathroom =p

Couple years back i was at a laker spurs game and got hit with the runs. spent the entire 1st half on the pot. Started calling them the san antonio squirts after that game. I hijacked the handicapped/family bathroom (bathroom not stall). People were knocking at the locked door waiting and i was like, "You're gonna have to find another option. Its not looking good in here i can tell you that...and you really don't want to come in here anyway"

Even went to the first aid/emergency medical room to ask them for pepto or something. F'n A'holes didn't even stock the stuff! WTF?

Are u kidding me?

Anywho...good times.

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health, 2. High Draft Pick!, 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!)

It's because there is no real reliable 'scorer' mentality on this game.   Young off broken plays yeah, but the way the offense runs is for anyone on any given night to be an answer.  It's basically an offense where the ball moves to find the open guy.

D'antoni's offense isn't really an isolation offense, it's more the ball always moves till the easiest shot opens up kind of offense.

We have guys that can score, but we aren't flooding the ball to them for iso's very often.

Only Gasol really is the guy we're working it to for scoring.  Young at times too but we're pretty much trying to get any and everyone open shot opportunities.

It isn't a 'throw the ball to Kobe so he can always bail us out' offense and anyone on any given night can be the leading scorer.

Honestly, I like it that way.   Off broken plays though the ball is gonna go to Young or Gasol imo.   But Farmar can make it happen off them too, or Nash.. or Henry.. or Blake.. or Kaman...   I mean tonight 7 guys were in double digits.

See what I mean though?  Versatile :)

Landry is 28.  Doubt LA has any interest in him beyond this preseason.

Lakers Training Camp Day 20; Return of the Caveman

The jello is jigglin’ in 2 days. #LakersTipOff pic.twitter.com/lgmvaJ216c

BXmM9QoCQAAYgBN.jpg

Chris Kaman returned to practice today after missing the last two preseason games. He said he will be ready for the season opener. #GoLakers

D'Antoni said its still a possibility Nash sits out the second night of a back to back on Wednesday @ GSW. No decision made yet.

Mike D'Antoni didn't definitively say who's starting at the 4, but Shawne Williams started the last three, and seems most likely for Tues.

Rest of the front court rotation is TBD. Gasol's gonna be there, but Williams/Kaman/Hill, plus Johnson at 4, will take some figuring.

If D'Antoni wants to go extra athletic, he can play Johnson at the 4, which worked well the last 2 games. They see potential there.

Kaman missed the last 2 games w/gastroenteritis, but said he'll be ready on Tues.; Williams is likely a better option to defend Griffin.

Few teams that have big 4's that have nice post up games would be doubled. Idea is to run them on the other end. Goes both ways.

I'd expect to see more of Williams on Griffin than Johnson. And, regardless, they can always trap.

Gasol is putting up great numbers and has been pacing himself. Should be a big year once games start counting.

So it looks like D'antoni may go with WIlliams over Kaman to start vs the Clippers for the defensive assignment on Griffin.

And given Doc's love of trying to turn Griffin into Tim Duncan at the 4 rather than pick and rolling with him and Paul, this may be a good choice.

I'll post more updates as they come.

Still not feeling all that great about seeing Pau take so many damn jumpers. Yeah, he can make some here & there, but I'd much rather him emphasize getting closer looks to the basket more often on the post.

Plus when he's out around the perimeter so much, we lose more possibility for potential offensive rebounds/2nd chance opportunities.

Our big man, especially as skilled as Pau, should and can be shooting a much higher percentage from the field overall.

I can understand the outside shot from time to time for certain plays & sets & pick & pops or whatever, but just don't fall in love with it so much. He has the tendency to do that it seems more often than I'd like to see personally.

yo.
