MIAMI -- So long, James, Allen, Pierce and Garnett.

At least for one game, King James, Jesus Shuttlesworth, The Truth and KG may be headed to the backs of NBA jerseys.

Some members of the Miami Heat have been told the NBA is considering having them and the Brooklyn Nets wear "nickname jerseys" in at least one of their four matchups this season. The NBA has not announced the plan, but teams apparently have been aware of the likelihood of it happening for at least several weeks.

I can only imagine how much a Hollywood Nights jersey with "Black Mamba" on the back would sale.

I didnt think the nba was this desperate to make money off of jersey sales. What about the players with no nicknames? This should be interesting.

I expect nothing less from the NBA though

as much as kobe would look like a G with mamba written on the back of his hollywood nights jersey; i'ld rather not see this happen, very unprofessional and let's not forget how horrible the nicknames these players will come up with

NBA is a joke. One of the reasons it won't be a powerhouse like the NFL is. No professional league should do this.

I wonder how many "ni99a" nicknames won't be used

I love how most of you basketball enthusiasts take it as "amateurism" but didn't even grasp that the concept is a nod to Rucker Park.

Why else do you think that it's the Nets that are doing this?

They'll have alternate Jersey's with nicknames on them for a game against the Heat.

Probably call them "Rucker addition" or something like that.

Don't act like you wouldn't buy a Hollywood Nights Lakers jersey with "Black Mamba" on the back of it ;)

I don't care what it's a nod to. Keep it professional.

No...I wouldn't even accept a free jersey with the name "Black Mamba" on the back.

I'd rather the NBA get rid of all these academy award winning actors. Having said that, I guess the NBA can put "Serial Flopper" on the back of jerseys such as: Lebron James, Dwayne ([expletive] your name) Wade, Manu Ginobili, and etc. Something like Gasoft for Pau just for [expletive] and giggles.

Lol who the [expletive] would buy a Hollywood nights jersey with Black Mamba on the back? What am I twelve? I don't know who wouldn't want a real name on the jersey as opposed to a nickname or made up name.

They exist and people buy them as well as customize jerseys with nicknames.

Eh I'd kinda like to see it just for Kobe haha. Lebron should get flopping [expletive] on his jersey as well as CP3
