Metta World Peace: “I think the Lakers are going to the Finals”

kobe-metta.jpg

At a time when everybody else is counting the Lakers out, you can always rely on Metta World Peace to say the exact opposite, even if he is now a member of the Knicks.

The former small forward for the purple and gold told ESPN today that he expects the Lakers to make it to the NBA Finals in June:

Knicks forward Metta World Peace expects his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, to play for the right to hoist the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy this season.

“I think the Lakers are going to go to the NBA Finals,” World Peace said during a signing for his children’s book “Metta’s Bedtime Stories” in downtown Manhattan on Wednesday.

“I think Kobe [Bryant's] gonna be healthy, they’re gonna get Pau [Gasol]. The Lakers are gonna make a big trade like they always do. They’re gonna get another good player, boom, boom, and they’re gonna go to the Finals. I believe it. Kobe’s gonna come back, he’s gonna play team ball, and Pau’s gonna play well.”

Metta still believes in us... even when so many others have given up.  But even as a member of the Knicks, Metta still believes in us...in the Lakers...

Still loyal

It's Metta.

He's likely telling the truth and really feels that way.

Metta has mentioned kobe and team ball or something to that level a lot during his Laker tenure.

It's questionable whether Metta played within the concept of team in most games

People will call Ron dumb for this, but it's statements like this that make him smarter than the media and even the fans.

He doesn't believe that, but it puts his name in the news and it will sell his books when he makes you (the media) believe that he does think it will happen.

He's like your crazy uncle.  Entertaining and scary with occasional periods of lucidity.  This was not one of them.  What caught my eye was the children's book.  Now THAT would be an entertaining read.
