Trade Blake and Meeks?!

Why would they do that?  Nash's health is questionable, you hold on to two back-up point guards without question.

Sasha gives them a back-up shooting guard that knows how to play with and after Kobe off the bench.  It allows them to not rely on Meeks whatsoever.  It gives the Lakers more options.  Non-guaranteed - why not?

I'd rather see the Machine out there than Meeks, bring him in...

Meeks definitely if this is the case.

Vujacic is much better defensively than Meeks.

Nobody has to go, don't know where you are getting that notion from.

2 backup shooting guards is just fine, as well as two backup points.

Doubt they are looking to trade Hill.  That would be a tank move.  He's probably our best defensive player at this point.

You guys, they don't trade anyone.  They sign Sasha and maintain the roster (sans a couple camp fodder guys).

Same routine as normal, why is this so hard to grasp?

Cuz Coach D already doesnt understand how to have a 2 wave 10 guy or more rotation & mins are going to be limited. It makes no sense having all these guards if they are not gonna be allowed to play meaningful mins & they are taking up roster space. Lakers still need better PF & Cs.

gque - Meeks is unreliable, Nash's health is questionable and Kobe, though he is doing fine right now, is still walking on eggshells as far as longevity is concerned.  In case injuries hit again, you don't want to come up against the thin roster problem the Lakers have had for the last couple years.  Sasha rounds out the roster just fine.

Not that tough to understand.

Because if Young is backing up Kobe that makes it 3

If they START Young then it becomes different

If Young starts the lineups look like this

Nash
Kobe
Young
Hill
Gasol

Bench

Farmar/Blake
Vujachic/Meeks
Johnson/Landry
Williams
Kaman

But you are spot on.

If Nash or Kobe needed extra time or something happened..knock on wood it doesn't.

Our deep roster would be the answer and it would be a good thing to have.

In all honesty if Sacre didn't have the guaranteed money it would be much easier.

As of right now our roster stands at 15.

Nash/Farmar/Blake
Kobe/Young/Meeks
Johnson/Landry/Henry
Hill/Williams/Harris
Gasol/Kaman/Sacre

if we sign Sasha and he does well enough to make the team, someone has to go.

Williams is a lock imo.

Henry will go, and possibly Landry (although I think he and Kelly will stay).  So sticking with your Williams prediction (which I think he would be on the fence).  If he does go I won't be surprised to see the Lakers carry 14 and leave a spot open in case someone becomes available.

PG: Nash / Blake / Farmar

SG: Bryant / Vujacic / Meeks

SF: Young / Johnson / Landry

PF: Hill / Kelly / (Williams)

C: Gasol / Kaman / Sacre

15 (14) - not too tough to grasp.

The reason I see Williams staying is pretty much because of the unsureness of Kelly and his health questions.(Pretty much the reasons I felt Sacre was gonna stay last year cause of the unsureness of Dwight)

Because of Hill being our only real 4, and Williams being our only real second one capable of playing it, the question mark around Kelly's health is what makes me feel Williams is a lock.

Landry I can see making the team because he's an actual 3 and is strong enough to play it, the only other one aside from Johnson.   As young is better served at the 2 in certain scenario's and he'd get it when Kobe rests,  If Young starts at 3, then he'll be also in the  unit at 2 when the bench comes in as part of the first wave, that's when Johnson would come in, then when Nick goes to the bench you could bring in Vujachic or Meeks, or even you could bring in Landry and switch Johnson to the 2 where he probably would have more success.    The depth of the team and the combinations they can use is crazy!!   And all the while that's happening, Kobe can still be resting while there's 4 combo players that can play at his position if need be and that's not even counting Farmar or Blake.
