DEVELOPING: The LA Lakers are weighing the possibility of signing Sasha Vujacic to a non-guaranteed contract. Nothing imminent yet.

Ryan Kelly has been practicing w/ Sasha Vujacic at the Lakers training facility. Kelly says that Vujacic has been playing off the charts.

Now this guy is credible.  Predicted Young to LA, and Oden to Miami, as well as Jamison to the Clippers and the meeting with Dwight when other reporters were getting it wrong.

In terms of twitter people he's been right on near all of his predictions.

So it seems like the Lakers are looking to bring in Sasha, most likely for a backup 3 position.

So that backup 3 position, Landry, Henry, Sasha going at it?  Wow.. and what if Meeks?   How must he feel right now.

pretty interesting though.  Non-guaranteed means anot her camp invite.  Wouldn't mind the Machine returning for camp!

It was reported a couple days ago that he turned some heads in his workout in front of Lakers scouts/personnel.

I wouldn't mind The Machine back in LA.  I even think he's a better option than Meeks because of his size and ability to annoy players with his defensive aggressiveness.

It will be a competitive camp to begin with so at least we'll have some hungry guys wanting to prove themselves.

Question is if Meeks is shipped out who is it for?

I mean... would we get picks for him or?? What?

Trade exception most likely.  His contract is only $1.5 million so not much you can do.  A second rounder wouldn't be out of the question either.  He could always be packaged with Jordan Hill and that would be a way to get a first rounder.

I don't get a good feeling about Meeks and his roster spot.  Lots of guys being brought in that can do what he did last season.

And if we think about it, Sasha is probably better defensively than Meeks.  Meeks is pretty much undersized at the 2, although he tries defensively but Sasha has him beat there as a shooter and defensively.  When it comes down to Young.. Meeks is never taking that spot.  And those would be the two guys ahead of him if Kobe decided to rest out.  When Kobe comes back Sasha would be third off the bench at 2 and 3rd off the bench at 3 so Meeks has nowhere.  Cause Blake and Farmar are ahead of him at the 1.

So unless Meeks brings it this year, I don't see him lasting past trade deadline.

I'm down for this. Why not? Nostalgia baby. Maybe he can make some big free throws for us again, perhaps not game 7 status, but still..

Battle of the Gaurds.. I am diggin it. Lakers will have like 20 to 25 dudes in the pre season just going at it.. With only 11 garunteed contracts. The final 2-3 spot battle will be fun to see. Can't wait.. 10/5 can't come noooo sooner.

Steve Blake and Jodie Meeks are probably gone at the deadine if the Lakers sign Sasha.  This roster is becoming bloated with guards.  I do like Sasha though and he always gave a good burst of the bench.
