I thought it was so fitting that he dropped this song the sameday NWTS got leaked. This is what real Hip Hop sounds like, these are the verses get your toes curling. Just nasty.

Kendrick is [expletive]ing beast. He's the artist I've been searching for since Em and Nas.

I've been a fan of Kendrick back when I heard I Hate You and Relevant for the first time 4 years ago. Always been a huge clipse and Push-A-Ton fan, he's just so raw. I've been saying for a long time MNIMN will be better than NWTS, all my friends laughed at me lol. I can't wait till the album finally comes out! It will be the best rap album if the year.

I still got GKMC as album of the year. But that was last year, its gonna be nominated for the next grammies. Pusha is raw as hell, can't wait till that album. I've been following Kendrick since that time too. Glad to know we have some other Kendrick supporters here.

I think Pusha, Eminem, and Wu Tang will all be competing for album of the year. It really depends who put in the most work.

Berserk was pretty good. If you listened to the lyrics and not his voice.

The lyrics were raw, but I had to listen to the song 4 times before I can understand everything he said.

People complain about eminems screaming voice but praise Kendrick's corny ass mouse voice that he brings out in like 80% of his songs

Also for as great as Kendrick is he made his career off of ripping off pusha T. Pusha T was basically Kendrick Lamar before Kendrick Lamar

I love Kendrick but people need to realize that he's just one of the best now. His album was a step down from section 80 and while he's shown he can kill a verse he has yet to show he can make classic songs

I really have yet to hear a classic song from him. ADHD is probably his closest to a classic song.

The greats have several classic songs. he has the right mindset but I'm not sure he has the ability to make great music as opposed to great bars

Also earl sweatshirts Doris was every bit as impressive as good kid maad city, especially lyrically. And that's without the production values being a member of aftermath and interscope get you.

So let's hold off saying how good GKMC was. It was a good album, but a step down and nowhere near the pantheon of this decades great albums like

College dropout, MBDTF, food and liqour, Late registration, the black album, the cool, Etc

This isn't me hating this is me saying hold your horses on Kendrick. Wait until he puts out a classic, something with some timeless songs because GKMC wasn't it

I'm still debating if it's better than Doris when most album of the years it's barely a debate

GKMC seems to lose interest everytime I listen to it. It's incredibly corny and Kendrick Doesn't seem to have an ear for good music. I don't think it'll stand the test of time

Say what you want about tupac and his legendary lyricism, but that man knew how to make music. His music still sounds great. ADHD which IMO is probably Kendrick's best song ever is what tupac did effortlessly and what Kendrick seems to struggle finding consistently.

Kendrick has a ton of word of mouth right now because hip hop honestly sucks. The list starts and ends with Kanye west in terms of creativity, pushing boundaries, taking chances

Which is what hip hop was built on. Kendrick is a big fish in a small pond. The genre is the weakest it's ever been and while Kendrick is good I'm not sure he even gets noticed in the early 2000s- 2007 range

It's not a classic. It really isn't

And ADHD is his best song. Music isn't just about lyrics. You want lyrics read a poem. Music is te whole package

GKMC has some classic verses but 0 classic songs and some of the songs just suck to listen to. GKMC has very little musical value and will be forgotten about in a couple years

Lol i should read a poem? I think you're confusing rap and hiphop like many others. ADHD is one of his worst songs. It's probably one of those songs that you can jam too, and thats why you consider it one of his best. But rap is not that.

That party music/club music you talk about is different.

It's still hard to separate the two and its hard to explain as well.

The musical features of rap and hip hop are quite different. Rap is a combination of rhyming and poetry to a musical beat. The subject of the rap can range from local events to relationships. In the early 1970s and 1980s, rappers provided social commentary on issues that were not receiving regular media attention. In later years, popular rap became more focused on consumer commercialism and relationship issues.

Hip hop music includes rhythm and blues and beat boxing. Rhythm and blues or R&B music is a combination of soul and pop music. Singers combine their lyrics to fast-paced music that is often used as the background to complex dance routines. This type of music lead the cross over into popular music with soulful singing and lyrics focused on common relationship issues.

from wisegeek, http://www.wisegeek....and-hip-hop.htm

This is the point I've been trying to get across through these few pages. They are two different things.

This is rap. Rap is about lyrics and poetry and with a hot beat. But everyone forgets that the beat and rhythm is not the main thing in rap. Illmatic was rap. GKMC was straight rap.. If you think something like life in compton is corny, go live there and tell me it is the least bit corny. Hell, come live in the neighborhood i lived in half of my life, QB. just to clarify, i am not a kendrick stan, i actually repp nas till i die, because he is a true rapper. That was disrespectful. Half the rap world is calling GKMC a classic. That includes the greats. They're respecting the young kid. You can downplay him like the others but don't tell me rap is not poetry, when it is truly is and was born as poetry..

Pusha T is a straight rapper and i respect him for that. Clipse is real as hell. He's up there with Kendrick with me right now.

Everyone is sleeping on what this young kid is trying to bring back and that is straight rap.

Want hot beats and things to jam too, because that creates musical value apparently, kanye's your man and possibly the new stuff jigga is coming out with. Or you can go with newer people like drake, , asap rocky, etc.

You literally missed the entire point I made. Your confusing musical value with club music. Completely different

Illmatic had more musical value than GKMC. And actual timeless songs

Kendrick isn't corny because of his subject matter, I don't understand where you got that from, he's corny because of some of his choices. Like the little voices, or the ridiculous singing he does

Rap is music. It has to sound good. There is no difference between hip hop, rap, and any other genre. It has to sound good. The question is where the emphasis is. In rock the emphasis is on the instruments, doesn't mean the words don't matter anymore. The vocals still have to sound good.

Hip hop is about the background music, doesn't mean the lyrics can be meaningless.

You're basically saying its fine Kendrick's music is one dimensional because it's rap.

Why can a song like lose yourself by eminem be so lyrically based and still sound fantastic. Why can a song like new York state of mind by nas be so lyrical an yet sound so great

It's about hitting all facets of music. I'm not downplaying anyone, if anything your overplaying him. You're too defensive of him. His album wasn't much better than earl sweatshirts Doris which I don't consider a classic. I specifically said GKMC has classic verses on it, but it's not classic because a classic has to have several elements and GKMC misses a lot of elements

lol? the singing? he did that in two songs. btw, some people like his alien voice. (he learned it from anna wise).

I wasn't saying rap was one dimension, i was saying lyrics were the most important aspect to rap.

were basically arguing on what sounds great here? how does someone argue that? i know how to argue with lyrics, thats more based on actual substance. i could say GKMC had amazing beats and sounded great, which i think it did. i thought kendricks use of words and how he mixed it in with the beats was amazing. for example, the fading out in the second verse of sing about me, which was genius. i loved kendrick random blabbers or murmurings or whatever you call it in m.a.a.d city. you probably don't like that lmfao. swimming pools went platinum cause everyone loved his "weird voice." [expletive] Don't Kill My Vibe was remixed by HOV... but arguing this is pointless. im only gonna go lyrical

i'm not overplaying him. he's already one of the top rappers in the current era after a debut album and individual album. he's also respected by everyone, except the few that he called out in control  . just cause a [expletive] can't sing or has a bad voice he can't hit all the facets of music? kanye uses autotune all the time and we love it.

Tell me when Doris gets any of the credentials or respect from the respected.

Wait so what the "respected" say about rappers means something but you argue drake is trash when the "respected" respect him

I sense you're just pulling whatever suits yourself. Swimming pools didn't go platinum because everyone loved his weird voice lol. When you have actual evidence of that bring it back. Until then I'll assume it had more to do with a more mainstream beat and flow and the voices became a divisive part of the song.

It's corny. It really is. And GKMC was easily one of the best albums of 2012 but it's not a classic. Period. Not one classic song and sporadic classic verses.
