5 game suspension.

And I would say it's most likely for weed.  Steroids (like Hedo Turkoglu) get a longer suspension.  These are the banned substances:

Per the policy, banned substances include drugs of abuse (cocaine, amphetimines), steroids and marijuana. Methenolone falls under the steroids category. Steroids were added to the list of banned substances in 1999.

Society is so [expletive]ed up promoting alcohol so much and demonizing weed. It's sickening. I've never done weed personally, but the research & statistics say more than enough already. What a joke.

I've can proudly say I've stayed away from all drugs.

I'll drink from time to time, but that's more of social setting with friends or family.

Statistics don't count the accidents that happen to those "under the influence" of weed, which is an interesting trick cause I KNOW that more than 0 people have gotten into fatal car accidents while under the influence of weed :)   But they show the statistic that "weed doesn't kill anybody"

But the statistics I read always say something like

"Car accidents:" Number

"alcohol": Number
"Smoking": Number

And it shows all these drugs and it shows weed at 0

But the number is skewed   As they don't have a statistic for "stoned driving" or "stoned this"  etc

I can guarantee you that the number goes up if/when marijuana is legalized for more than recreational use.

but that's another argument entirely

back to JR Smith

So not only is he gonna miss games because of his surgery... but he's also gonna be suspended for 5 more games because of substance abuse policy....

Yep.... keep this up Knicks :)

JR smith will also be missing time from surgery, and needing to get into basketball shape.

He is that teams 2nd best scorer.

He was their reigning 6th man of the year last year.

He'll be missing even more time, due to needing to get in shape, and then when he's finally cleared he has to sit out 5 more games due to this.

So this hurts them regardless. Say JR Smith misses 20 games coming back from surgery, is cleared for game 21, needs to sit out till game 26 because of the suspension, and is still getting himself into basketball shape.

THEN it hurts. But if JR Smith is cleared the day the season starts which isn't likely, and misses 5 games it won't be such a big deal.

If you have drank, you technically haven't stayed away from all drugs, you just mean you haven't had an illegal drug.

Caffeine is a drug, Aspirin and  etc.

Marijuana is safe than all those by the way
