.....

They really want to play Asik and Dwight together THIS bad???

Dwight Howard and Omer Asik aren't an ideal pairing

20121204_mje_at5_112.0_standard_709.0.jp

The Houston Rockets will likely try out a new Texas "Twin Towers" duo this season with a frontcourt pairing of Omer Asik and Dwight Howard. Head coach Kevin McHale mentioned the possibility of playing both big men together shortly after they landed the superstar center, and general manager Daryl Morey confirmed in a Reddit AMA that the team will "experiment" with shifting Howard down to play power forward.

Have fun changing up that entire offense now McHale...

Asik: I don't want to play with Dwight, I don't even want to get off the bench for Dwight
Rockets: Alright let's see if we can get rid of him and Lin for Rondo
Dwight: NO! Don't do that, I want to play with Asik.  Really.
Rockets: OK Dwight whatever you want.
Rockets:  Team... I know that we got where we were last year running along the perimeter and were building around Harden.. and ya'll were talking about the New Kobe & Shaq and stuff..but Dwight wants what Dwight wants.... so... SAY HELLO TO THE NEW TWIN TOWERS!!!

McHale: "Dwight, you're not really a center so let's put you at power forward.  Asik is more of a center than you are."

This is why I hate dwight coward. He should've been a Power Forward with the Lakers since he is too dumb to learn any Post Moves. That Laker team should've made the Conference Finals

Orlando tried this when Howard was first drafted but eventually switched him to Center when they realized that's his natural position

Very flawed to put him at 4, man can't shoot from the base, has no post move to go to really, and is more susceptible to be fouled easier away from the basket by any guard and get tangled. Even Asik isn't a great offensive player himself, this front court if healthy would be great defensively, but offensively challenged. McHale is pretty much gonna have his other 3 players be three point shooters, of which Lin isn't very good, Harden can have some ugly cold streaks and Parsosn can't really recall if he is solid or not.

Looks nice on paper, but as we know have to wait and see the product on the floor.

I seriously doubt they are going to do this.  I don't expect Asik on their team past the trade deadline.  Mark my words.

Except who's gonna want Asik's (and/or Lin's) bloated contract prior to this upcoming summer's free agency bonanza

Exactly, you hear Rondo's name come up but that will never happen. Rockets have to try and make this work with what they have now.

Plenty of teams will take on Asik's contract with it being basically a 15M expiring and the way he played with starter minutes he'd be a great fit on a team that needs rebounding and post defense. Portland and NO come to mind.

I agree with Jody.  I don't see the two coexisting well at all.  Howard had the most one of the most ideal big man along side him in Pau (because of his passing ability and basketball IQ) so I doubt Asik will work at all.

This is Howard we're talking about. They'll be fine. As long as they keep on "playing together" & "fighting through it all". They'll do good because it's all part of the process.

Better than Asik? I can't argue against that but its kind of hard to compare.

Ibaka is better

15 mil expiring next season that is. He's owed another 5 mil this season
