The New England Patriots have released polarizing quarterback Tim Tebow, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Tebow, who signed with the Patriots in June, struggled to find consistency throughout the preseason, completing 11 of 30 passes for 145 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He never seriously threatened Ryan Mallett for the backup job behind Tom Brady.

In his final preseason game Thursday night against the New York Giants, Tebow completed 6 of 11 passes for 91 yards with two TDs and one interception.  He also was sacked four times.

Asked after Thursday's game if he felt that performance improved his chances of making the team, Tebow said, "I'm not sure. I don't make those decisions."

Where's that guy that kep debating me about how good Tebow is?

*Waits for Tebow didn't get a fair shot because Brady is there*

Guy needs to convert to another position.  I don't know what it's going to take for his supporters to see that he IS NOT AN NFL QUARTERBACK.

Why you guys hating on Tebow? He has not done anything wrong like kill a person or drive under the influence. He has not said anything that is morally/socially wrong or considered "racist."

I don't bash the guy, although I guess I've never liked personal beliefs mixed in within sports so I kind of find that annoying. But ultimately it is his stubbornness and reluctance to change to a better suited position that will hamper him getting any NFL job. I am sure so many players and coaching staff's have advised him on trying another position on the field, but at this point it is like he has something to prove, which I can understand and respect but it is for that reason that people or at least his 'fanbase' has to stop making him seem like a victim in the 'sinful' NFL.

I don't know if you saw this but this is the sub forum for "National Football League Discussion" and thats what everyone is doing lol.

Everyone is talking about his game, not his personal life.

I hate him because we're still talking about him. He's the only proven scrub that still makes front page news.

If he can no longer ultimately make it in the NFL anywhere, I hope he's humble enough to accept the CFL and still make a living that way.

Where's GA at?

What? I never said he was some awesome player. I just dont think he's as bad as the public opinion has become because his highlight reel from 2011 was pretty good. But do I think hes good enough to hold Tom Bradys clip board...no. He runs a different offense than NE. Honestly one of the teams who run the option or wild cat should pick him up as a back up. SF or Philly maybe.

All I ever said previously was why dont teams like the browns, Jags give him a try because its not like they have anything to lose...lol

Honestly I could give a crap about him.

I wouldnt want him on the Falcons. Poor Matt Ryan already doesnt get the exposure/props he deserves. Matty Ice will go 13-3 and finish in the top 5 in every QB stat again and all the media would talk about is Tebow....screw that.

The issues are:

1. He's barely a serviceable back-up QB. There are a lot of other QBs who are more suitable to playing that position.

2. NFL teams barely run the option/wildcat. Maybe a few plays here and there to pick up a 1st Down. Not gonna bring in Tebow just for that

3. He does not have the desire (wants to be a QB) nor the career training at other positions such as TE or H-back

Look at the Packers: Did they sign Tebow as their backup QB? No, they signed Seneca Wallace.

The Jets brought in Brady Quinn as a backup

Tim Tebow has been fired twice in a span of four months, so you have to figure his next move will be to a TV studio or a broadcast booth. If a smart coach like Bill Belichick can't find a way to justify a roster spot for him, it doesn't bode well for his chances of catching on elsewhere. Unlike the Jets, the Patriots aborted quickly, incurring no damage whatsoever.

Jesus turned water into wine but he can't turn Tebow into a quarterback
