He is one of my favorite lakers of all time and I only have two.   I don't know if most of the members on here are old enough to seen him play. This is when basketball was really fun to watch instead of a guy who can dunk over people and make crazy jumpers.  One of a kind indeed.  I know a lot of people wanting to be like Mike and probably easier to have a similar playing style IE kobe but I know for sure nobody can be like Magic. Probably the last time you see a 6'8 point guard doing what he did.  .

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

Is, was and always will be my favorite Laker (and one of my favorite human beings) of all time.

Seeing him play on video is nothing.  I wish most of you guys were around to go see him play in person and just take in the feeling the entire arena / team / league / city / state / country had when the guy was active.  Amazing player and an even more amazing person.

Happy bday Magic. I will always have a special place in my heart for him, as he is the reason I fell in love with Basketball as a youngster. He revolutionized and rejuvenated not only the Lakers, but the NBA. He made the game entertaining and fun to watch, with the charisma and smile to match. He didnt just play a game, he put a show on as well. There would be no Showtime era without him. However, he most importantly proved he was a winner, leader and champion!!! That what I will remember the most.

Kobe's resume overshadows that,  same as Jordan's.

Young kids now a days don't appreciate what real legends is all about. They grew up watching Jordan and thats all they know about. If a person can't dunk over people and make people say "dayam!" i guess they are not good.  Its a different generations of fans. So I understand why he doesn't think Magic is that great.

I did noticed on your avatar that you just a fan since 1989.   That is the very tail end of Magic's career. Probably catch the 92 all star game which to me is still the best all star game of all time.   I was only 5 when I started to become a lakers fan so I had to watch all the old videos of magic to appreciate and remember how great he was. Watch him live once when I was 7 years old in 87.
