As a sports fan I'm disgusted. But tbh I wasnt surprised when I found out it was a SF Giants fan that did it.

Orioles outfielder Adam Jones had plenty to be pleased about after Baltimore's 10-2 road victory over the Giants, but a possible racially motivated incident forced the All-Star to take to Twitter to voice his displeasure.

"I want to thank whatever slapd--- threw that banana towards my direction in CF in the last inning. Way to show ur class u jacka--," Jones tweeted to his more than 129,000 followers.

Jones, who is black, went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs on Sunday.

Jim Moorehead, the Giants' senior director of media relations, told The (Baltimore) Sun on Sunday night that the Giants received no reports of an incident involving anything being thrown onto the field in the bottom of the ninth inning. Moorehead, however, told the Sun that the Giants will review security footage Monday.

Throwing a banana in the direction of a black player is considered a racist action and has taken place previously in the NHL as well as in European soccer.

Could this be considered more offensive than the N word ala RC?

imo yes...tottaly. throwing a banana at a player is a globally recognized racist act of hate. Its usually used in soccer but people threw bananas at Jackie Robinson and yelled out coon, [expletive]er, etc. Its a pretty known fact what this means. The guy could have thrown anything else in the world.....but he just happened to have a banana on him in the 9th inning.....lol.

edit: not 7th inning, it was the ninth

But RC's was more shocking.....cuzz its a player of course. but I believe the racist act is more than a racist comment.

not only that, but in soccer an entire stadium "Oohed" like a gorilla whenever a black player touched the ball.

I think RC's is worse because as a white man you don't use the N word in that content, because of the slave/owners back in the 1800's.. just my opinion tho

I thought San Francisco was supposed to be accepting of people for who they are... I wonder if racism will ever phase out of this world?

In another century or two when the generation influenced by early/mid 20th century values die off.

but to answer your question no I don't think racism won't die, but I do think that it will lessen over time, due to the fact that they won't be 1950's people around and the next generation grandparents (us) are  born in the 90's lol If that make sense

People hate. It will never stop. Everyone is over sensitive to begin with nowadays. I'm never surprised reading stuff like this.

Really SF? I'd expect that in another arena, but ok.

Ultimately the issue regarding racism has improved tremendously, and in reality outer racial procreation is increasing alot. But even if this world were to surpass racism, something else would just take its place, whether the already existing classism, or simply based on insignificant features. Human history is just intolerant in many basis.
