This video was so inspiring. Thinking all the things Kobe and those Lakers went thorough (especially Kobe) after Colorado scandal, humiliation by Pistons, departure of Shaq and Phil, missing playoffs... 05/06 season proved to be the moment we came alive. Even with the underdog status.

Last couple of seasons, the drama filled LA saw its peak as two-time defending champions got swept, Phil retired, we lost our beloved owner and saw perhaps one of the most bizarre seasons ever last season with all the injury troubles and Dwightmare 2.0. I can't help but notice the similarities between 05/06 and 13/14. The organization seems to be on a soft ground, the media evaluates us in a position hard to recover. Fans are harshly criticizing the front office and team's one and only star.

At this moment I can only return to Kobe to save this team. I believe in him eventhough he is no longer in his prime. In aftermath of his injury, the doctors predicted a timetable of 6-9 months for an injury that normally ends players' careers. So-called pundits commented Kobe would never be same even if he recovers fully. But as I'm witnessing a history with him going all the trouble to come back for the season opener, searching for the ultimate possibilities the medicine has to offer, I can't quit on him. (German wonder did just fine last season) And I don't know if there are people who wouldn't be moved by it.

This time he doesn't have to do it all alone. He has Pau, not Kwame. He has Nash, not Smush. And bunch of guys who want to prove themselves.

Anyway, enjoy the video and relive the history.

I've read this before, and I'll inculcate this concept again. Kobe's work ethic, his dominance during the season, and his credentials spoiled us Laker fans. Every time the team was down, we'd look towards Kobe. If Kobe perceived absolutely no hope, we as the fans perceived no hope. If Kobe presented a hint of confidence and optimism, we as the fans were filled with surges of confidence and optimism.

It's going to be difficult seeing this man retire.

I would say 13 season was like 06 season for kobe as a player.

Hall of Famer and certainly in the top 10 shooting guards to ever play the game.  Watching his highlight reel never gets old.

top 10 shooting guards?  Im sorry but he is in the top 2 shooting guards of all time.  Jordan is the only person above him.  I cannot name another 8 shooting guard  that are better than Kobe.   Can you?  Jerry West is third btw.

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

Kobe is closing in on being a top 3 player of all-time (if he isn't already) and it isn't debatable to me.

Well it seems like the Lebron lovers already put Lebron as the best player in the history of the NBA already.   It does make me sick a little bit.  Kobe never get this kind of love when he was in his prime.

Kobe didn't have a team built around him during his prime. If you think this is bad, the slurping of Kobe would have been something the likes of which has never been seen. It would be bandwagon city.
