We really dont have a lot of specialists other than our three PGs. The rest are decent, but hardly specialists.
For the Lakers to have any success i think it's important for each player to have some relatively strict limitations on which shots to take. Those long 2s and other low percentage shots should really be managed. Last season i almost threw up every time i saw Metta pound the ball behind the 3pt line because i knew he was about to take a bad shot or make some boneheaded decision. It was actually the same with Kobe. If he hit a 3, you knew that on the next possession he would throw up another one that wouldn't go in.
This needs to stop.
A good example: Trevor Ariza shot 36% from 3 in 12-13. From either side or center, he was a combined 29% 3pt shooter, but from the corners he hit 47% of his 3s.
3pt stats from some of our guys:
Nick Young: Left/right/center: 41%; corners: 25%. Probably should limit the shots from the corners.
Wesley Johnson: Left/right/center: 31%; corners: 33%. Probably should work on his 3s, but was very good from mid-range.
Jodie Meeks: Left/right/center: 35%; corners: 37%. Decent from everywhere.
