Obviously by now im sure you have all heard about Alex Rodriguez. He will be suspended for the rest of the 2013 season and All of the 2014 season. The thing that makes this case so interesting is that he will now be able to appeal and is SET TO START TONIGHT FOR THE YANKEES VS THE WHITE SOX. He will be playing 3B and batting cleanup. I wonder how the crowd will greet him when he takes the field. It is unprecedented to suspend a player for 211 games for their 1st time offense. this is truly a unique situation we have never seen before.

please let me know all your thoughts on this!

Part of me feels frustrated that A-Rod got busted for PED use again. The other part of me is just happy to have him back on the field. If the yankees want to make the playoffs, they NEED him. No one at 3B has been getting it done for the Yankees.

check out this video of me destroying an Alex Rodriguez A-Roid baseball card after hearing about his suspension today!

Don't care as much for A-Rod, but I'm disappointed Colon didn't get suspended & I was disappointed at Nelson Cruz although admitting he messed up, still trying to find an excuse and way to justify what he did.

Baseball has been plagued and filled with superstar athletes using performance enhancing drugs.  Even some of the most historic names such as Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds were never truly convicted and punished.  It's good too see that players are actually getting punished now but a 50 game suspension is really nothing compared to the money most of these guys have already earned.

A trial and hearing is one thing, but his net worth is still $60 Million and has never been fined a significant amount despite his drug use.  Yeah his votes have slid in the Hall of Fame voting each year but its still a luxury to be living a tremendous lifestyle and have millions of dollars in your pocket by simply cheating and getting away with what you did.  For a sport that makes such a large amount of money the MLB should have cracked down on PEDs use a long long time ago.

He can play till the appeals process goes through which could take who knows how long.

So till then I'll say "What suspension?"

Rodriguez screwed up by interfering in the investigation. He's getting punished by MLB not only under the drug policy but the conduct policy as well.

He deserves exactly what he is getting.

But McGwire still has a shred of respect in my opinion.

He pleaded the 5th. He stfu. He didnt rat on anyone. He didnt throw anyone under the bus. And he didn't lie at all which would have not only made him looks like a cheating prick but also made him guilty of perjury like Bonds.

He said nothing.

And later after all the legal proceedings were over, he publicly came clean and admitted his use of PED's.

As far as Arod....I believe he should be kicked out for life.

But that frees up $29 mill/year in salary for the Yankees, and i dont want that to happen till my Braves resign Freddie Freeman and Chris Johnson.

^ This is the second time he gets caught and on top of that he's accused of obstructing evidence as well.

He's actually never tested positive. He admitted he used them and I think MLB has evidence that he used them again since 2009. None of the players that were suspended yesterday tested positive but the evidence against them essentially made them confess in using PEDs.

One of the biggest things is that there is evidence that Rodriguez referred players to this clinic and helped Bosch with his business by giving him clients. Add in the evidence of him using both Testosterone & HGH, him buying documents trying to make sure MLB never saw them and also buying documents to see what they had on him, negative comments in the media about the Yankees & the MLB, plus a few other things...

To answer TKain's question, yes, what he did was worse. This isn't just a player getting caught with PEDs case, it's far different than the other players.

And ARod tried to pay off a someone at biogenesis and/or a MLB official for $250k each to to lie for him? There's a whole baseball mafia thing going on with his relation to biogen.
