Love Rondo. Always have. But he will be returning from what...an ACL injury this season at some point. Doubtful he comes back the same player (have others?)...and no way he comes back better. Melo has JR and 18 ppg aint shabby for a 2nd option

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health, 2. High Draft Pick (Randle!) 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!...but the jury is out)

Jr smith as a second option on your team isn't saying much at all

This is true but team isn't really about options.  The issues on that team are leadership and front court scoring.  Defensively NY is pretty good and just got better with Metta on the wing.  Melo needs a strong minded PG that can run the offense and a coach that will support that.  Right now its Melo or bust on offense and very little leadership b/c Melo isnt a leader.

That is true. Melo had Chauncey in Denver and made it to the wcf

Ran into the Lakers and got smacked lol.  Melo is a good player no doubt but a team he is leading isn't going to beat a team with KD/Westbrook or Lebron and whoever on it in a 7 game series.  Melo with 2010 of younger Kobe I'd do all day.  Kobe needs something of a Tim Duncan role where he is the leader but not necessarily the best player on the team or someone that has an equal or greater overall impact like D12 should have had.  Problem is not too many players better than last year's Kobe.

Good point. You need to surround Kobe with young talent. Sure they may acquire young guys but that doesn't mean they are young and good. Paul George would be the ultimate get I know it's an extreme long shot. Imagine the day Kobe only plays 29 minutes a game. And is fresh for the playoffs.

Imagine Ibaka having to guard Carmelo on the perimeter and skinny Perk being alone with Pau in the post.

You don't think they would switch Durant to Melo on defense?

Pau isn't the scariest guy in the post by any means.  If anything Pau is dangerous in the post b/c of his passing ability and playmaking not necessarily his ability to score.  Perk has always done well against Pau defensively.  Scoring on OKC would be the least of the Laker's worries.  Guarding them would be much more of an issue considering they are a pick and roll heavy mid range team.  Pau and Melo would be bloody steak to a stray dog to them.

I wouldn't take that as gospel but unless he's teaming up with Lebron in free agency which I seriously doubt, he has no real incentive to leave the Knicks.

Losing and them never putting the proper pieces around you that you ask for isn't enough?

The same proper pieces that can be attained in 2015 not to mention that Lebron could opt out for the 2015 season as well.  All Lakers will have is a 36 year old Kobe.  Thats not enough.

You think Melo is gonna go through two more years carrying the Knicks on his back?

I don't think so.  Not when they fail again this year and are still pretty much stuck where they are.   Lakers can make things happen THEN in 2014 and as you said before, Melo will be 30 by then. You think he's gonna carry the Knicks one more year?

No, if they fail again this year or stay a middle of the pack playoffs team he's gone.

You can say "he wants to be the man alone" all you want but he was the man in Denver, when he realized they were only gonna be a middle of the pack playoff team he wanted out, he's getting the same thing on the Knicks, he'll want out too.  If he was gonna 'stay' he'd have never entertained leaving Denver and he was still young then.

This time he's gonna be 30 and the Lakers will be able to make moves "now" in 2014.

Melo ain't gonna carry the Knicks a whole other year after they fail again this year and WAIT another year next to stoudamire imo.

Im not the one pretending I know what Melo wants to do.  I'm just not going to sit back and act like the 2014 Lakers rebuild option is the more viable one.

Do you honestly feel that Melo is gonna wait a whole other year and sign long term with New York after the Knicks fail again this year and continue to be a middle of the pack playoff team with a whole other year to wait before they can make any moves?    Just a question.

That's a loaded question it comes down to does Melo feel that LA can provide a better chance for him to win a ring at the age of 30 and beyond.  All signs point to that being a no.  We will continue to go in circles on this so its probably just best we just end it.  You think a 36 year old Kobe is an attractive asset to a guy looking to sign a 4 year deal.  I don't.  If Kobe was 30-31 and not coming off the worst sports injury possible for his age and position sure, why not.  LA has MDA as their coach, he was clearly a big issue for Melo.  Unless they are bringing in someone he wants to play with the idea of him coming hear b/c of his perceived idolization of Kobe is asinine.  If he was that hell bent on getting to LA he would have pushed for a trade here in 2011 but he didn't.  He wanted to be on the bring NY back train.

He hasn't won a ring there but the Knicks are a relevant team in the NBA mainly because of him.  They are a competitive team just not a contender.  Both being because of Melo.

BREAKING: Carmelo Anthony says he wouldn't rule out joining the Los Angeles Lakers next summer to play w/ Kobe Bryant pic.twitter.com/bZ6ObBtWA2

This is the kid that predicted about Lakers signing Nick Young and them before they signed with Lakers. apparently all his predictions gone correct. lol. Emplay even said something to him.

@aryeabraham1 is that what he told you verbally?

He deleted the tweet that melo told him that for some reason.

Why would it stay up? It would only serve as a distraction for the rest of the season.

Everyone knew that anyway but now Melo's gonna hear it all during the season "if the Knicks lose" and he'd probably rather do that under the radar instead of with a precluding season.

But yeah we all knew this.

Did people think as close that Melo and Kobe are that he wouldn't come here if Kobe was healthy and the Knicks are 2 years away from making any moves when Melo's about to turn 30?
