Actually, the Lakers had better numbers WITHOUT Kobe.

MVP is subjective.  The actual criteria is, I believe, "to the best performing player of the season,"  so stats really have a lot to do with the award.  I don't think Kobe is even remotely in the running.  Lebron has been the best player for the last two seasons and two seasons before that.  I think Kobe was only in the running once in his career.

I thought Kobe should at have been mentioned for MVP consideration. He means more to the Lakers than LeBron means to the Heat. Only a handful of athletes have ever literally sacrificed their body just for a spot at the playoffs.

THE MVP award has changed ever since 2001 for reasons to not give it to Kobe. Im done harping on the bullsheet.

Varying opinions, I see.

I just hope the Lakers secure the top two seeds in one of the next few seasons along with Kobe performing close to his production last season.

He definitely deserves another MVP, and should certainly have more than one when discussing the All-time greats (MJ: 6, Kareem: 6, etc)

Hahaha.

But they do have a fair point. When people will be discussing the greats in the future, they'll bring up Jordan's 6 MVPs, Lebron's 4 (perhaps more in the future) MVPs, Kareem's 6 MVPS, etc and then Kobe's sole 1 MVP. Kobe deserved more in the past years but didn't get them.

Championships are what matter & that's the initial thing that will come up. We all know he should have more but there's nothing that can be done about it. It's crying over spilled milk. This always came up on kb24 dot com back in the day & I hated it.

You're definitely right about championships and performance. But when you're comparing players with a similar amount of championships, you resort to other achievements and credentials to help solidify who really is the better of the player. And in that sense, Kobe will be at a disadvantage.

lebron became great in 2012. Kobe ruled from 2001-2010. And Kobe came 2nd in 2009.

The Lakers were undefeated when Gasol started at center and Nash was the point guard.

Shall we prepare for an 82-0 season now?
