This year marks only the third time ever that the NBA Finals drew a higher rating than the World Series in the same calendar year. The two prior occasions involved Michael Jordan (1993 and 1998).

It's because it was the Lakers vs the Celtics. The rivalry goes way back and it has been resurrected just last season. I bet if it were some other teams, it wouldn't have gotten a higher rating than the World Series.

Wow, I was pretty sure that the Spurs vs. Pistons and Spurs vs. Nets were the previous two times. ;)

Not surprised. Who wanted to see a boring World Series between the Phillies and the Rays. Not me that's for sure.

its cuz KOBE was involved also, Lakers without Kobe would have got less admirers and less Kobe haters
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

that's not too surprising considering the teams that ended up in the world series, if the world series had also been boston v LA, with all the man ram drama, it might have been a different story
