It's the easy way for him to get back without the pressure to perform. Yes, the Heat need a true center to go up against those teams with better ones...but there will be zero pressure on him to perform at their level, because of the teammates around him. He can give the Heat rebounding, a defensive presence, and a rim protector for 15 minutes if he stays healthy.

Unfortunately then he'd be looking at bench time when the likes of Lopez or Hibbert etc would be on the bench and he wouldn't impact the Heat's lack of size at all with the starting lineup and that's where the Heat lack the size.

Miami don't need a full time C since they play small so he doesn't have to play a lot of min.

Exactly.  They only need to increase his minutes against teams with a strong inside presence.  Plus they still have Birdman in the fold as well.

Even if he makes the minimal impact its still a big boost for the heat.they already have it easy so any little bit more they can get is a problem for the rest of the league.

LOL WUT. They went to 7 game twice  and would have lost in the second round against a healthy Bulls team. Stop it.

I always wanted Oden to do well. Hopefully he can stay healthy and do well with the Heat... just not well enough to win a championship. ;)

Lol. Pacers was the biggest threat its just unfortunate they lost game 1. Don't hype the bulls. Even if they were healthy they didn't stand a chance against the heat.

if they couldn't stop Nate freaking Robinson and every game was close, what would a healthy Derrick Rose have done? :smh:

Bulls team was deeper last year, losing Heinrich and never having Rose hurt them against the Heat, yet every game was close.  If they had to deal with Rose and then Robinson coming off the bench it could have been trouble.

Very fortunate for them that it didn't happen that way.

Im sorry I was unaware that averaging 35% FG is considered "unstoppable". We are talking about the same Nate Robinson right? The guy who had a game where he went 0-12 FG in a game?

What would a healthy Derrick Rose have done? I know what a healthy Drose would've done. Sit in the bench and watch his team get destroyed.

Oden could come outta no where and be pretty decent.. You never know. That's why it's a low risk, high reward signing. If he does play decent and stays healthy, the heat as a team could be crazy dominant.

First off, the bulls were w/o Rose, Deng, and Hinrich. The starting 5 they had had to play 40 minutes a night and had just got out of a 7 game series.

So the Bulls proved to be a tough out without their first and second best scorers and two of their best defenders.

I'm sorry but the Bulls had a great chance to beat the Heat last year, as they do this year as well.

yes I'm talking about the Nate Robinson who single handedly brought his team back to beat the Heat.
I'm talking about the Nate Robinson that scored 27, 17 and 21 on the Heat.  He averaged 15.2 against the Heat.

Belittle all you want to, but if Nate Robinson is giving you issues, a healthy Derrick Rose is gonna give you more.

It's silly to think that the Heat that beat the Bulls by an average of 7 aside from that one huge blowout game wouldn't have struggled with a healthy Derrick Rose who is a 21/7 guy against them.

If you're only winning by an average of 7 and the 21/7 guy is coming off the bench and you let his backup average 15 on you, the Heat would have had issues.

Not to mention also being without Deng who is their best defender and a 16/6 guy.

That's 37 ppg that didn't play.   And the Heat only managed to beat the Bulls by an average of 7

Trying to belittle that fact is being in denial especially given how bad the Heat were looking.  But you can go home in your LeBron James snuggie and imagine that somehow the Heat would have destroyed Chicago if they had Rose and Deng back.

Pat Riley Sees Huge Upside in Greg Oden

“After many months of discussion, evaluations and speaking with Greg, we felt it was a perfect time for him to make his comeback and re-enter the NBA with the Miami HEAT,” Riley said in a released statement. “It’s a great challenge for him. We know all about his past injuries, but we feel that there is a huge upside and the possibility of him helping us, that’s why we took the risk. We will continue his program and then we will tackle basketball issues after that.”

@TheNBACentral 5h

Pat Riley said that the Miami Heat are focusing on Greg Oden's knee rehab and "will tackle basketball issues after that."

And so it begins.  No idea when he'll play and dude is STILL rehabbing his knee..
