from Kevin Ding

Lakers' intent is to sign two more players on partial-guarantee minimum deals. Those players will come from the pool of veterans who slip through the cracks or players on Lakers' summer-league team. It makes sense for the Lakers to invest time, effort and money in a younger, hungrier player than Lamar Odom -- as much as sentiment would make it a whole lot of fun to bring him back. Maybe they can find something there for the more realistic title hopes in the future.

Once draftee Ryan Kelly signs, the Lakers will have 12 players. They expect to enter the real season with 14.

They have signed Elias Harris, that brings their roster to 13 once Kelly is signed.

One more guy from their summer league team apparently(or vet that slips through the cracks) is next.

According to Ding they could be looking at someone hungrier and younger than Odom would be.

Harris is a great signing. At this point the focus should be on finding diamonds in the rough.  Malcolm Thomas should definitely be excluded from that bunch tho.

After that, the Lakers should be able to get rid of Steve Blake and Jordan Hill to get under the luxury tax threshold and still have enough players on the roster.

Ding actually miscalculated. Kelly + 2 should take the Lakers to 15.

Kobe Bryant

Pau Gasol

Steve Nash

Steve Blake

Jordan Hill

Chris Kaman

Jodie Meeks

Nick Young

Wesley Johnson

Jordan Farmar

Robert Sacre

Elias Harris

That's 12.

Well, I'm just looking at it from a luxury tax perspective. The Lakers could use both. You need depth behind Steve Nash and J Hill is the only defensive-minded big man the Lakers have. But, the Lakers should definitely get under the luxury tax threshold this season.

Hopefully the other players the Lakers get would be able to replace some of the things those players do.

He said it literally right before the news broke that we'd signed Harris so it was 12 at the time(including Kelly) its 13 now :)

You don't move Blake at all.

You keep both Blake and Farmar and both Young and Meeks in case something happened to Nash or Kobe.

You have to move Blake and Hill to get under the luxury tax so you could very well see him moved.

Everyone on the roster is expendable. If you can get anything for Blake, you do it.

I think blake is overpaid for what he does..and like i said.. if Farmar can do what Blake does on the same level * i tend to think he can, maybe a little less defensively* then i don't see why we don't ship him..hell even meeks too.. hes HORRIBLE

With Nash's questionable leg and back it's hard to let Blake go unless you find a CJ Watson type for the min. Jordan Hill is even tougher to let go due to his youth, hustle, length and hunger.

As he should be.  I won't say he cant be an NBA player on someone's bench but at 26 and 5 years in the NBA with his avg skillset he wont get any better or contribute much.

Is cdr out again?
