Might as well sign Austin Daye since he played with Sacre and Harris in college for Zags. Too bad the Celtics pick up Kelly Olynyk or we could have reunited them.

Team option for 2nd year, so out the door if he sucks or we get to keep him for cheap if he looks like a potential talent.

would be shocked if they turned Daye down.

Really? Even after hearing this?

While the Lakers did work out Austin Daye as first reported by @AlexKennedyNBA - I got the impression the team wasn't totally wowed by him

Anoter Gonzaga player. Interesting.

Harris isn't anything to be too amazed about on the defensive end, but from what I have seen, he always puts in the effort on both sides of the floor. He is semi-athletic, nothing amazing. He has a mid range game and can knock down some occasional 3's from downtown. If used correctly, he could be used to spread the floor out a bit more.

Hopefully he finds more of a role than Sacre -- we will see.

How desperate are we that we're excited about this?? It's like we wanted to see anything happen. We need to get really lucky with this last forward spot

People are excited? Someone just got signed and the thread is not even 2 pages. Pretty sure not many people care about this signing.

if you're gonna bash every move we make and belittle every fan that may see some potential in Harris(despite the fact no one's excited or calling him a savior)

then you can always end your tenure of being a Lakers fan from 75 and end it at 2013 and not watch.

I'm saying though. Not every signed player is going to be a barn burner for the Lakers. Again I say, can't please everybody.
Fans wanted youth, Mitch got youth.... I for one, am happy they got youth for pretty much nothing and all for a year. I'm not complaining. I dig the signing.. He adds toughness and he played with Sacre back in Gonzaga.

I can deal with this signing. Low risk, potentially decent reward.

The only question I have is how are guys like Harris and Sacre able to get 2 year deals with partially guaranteed money from this team? I mean, surely they aren't getting many (if any) other offers. You would think the Lakers would have all of the leverage in the world on guys like this. But oh well, I look forward to seeing this young squad.

Team options on second years and can be cut before the cutoff date during the season.   like DJO.

Im happy with us trying to build a platform of young prospects for the 2014-15 season. In the upcoming season we realistically aint a true contender, so it is the perfect time to unearth some potential diamonds in the rough like Harris. Also guys like Young and Johnson who are trying to fully unlock their true potential. If it pays off then we have potential long term players. If it dont they can be let go, though Young has a player option and Sacre is guaranteed. However Young and Sacre would only be on minimal money anyway. All these young guys we have are low risk, high reward so you can only hope for the best. When you dont have draft picks this is a route you have to take sometimes.

Not that I'm saying you're wrong but I haven't read anything to indicate that. Do you have any sources? Preferably multiple?
