This is a joke right?

He played 15 games in a total of 72 minuets. This is a low risk no reward. Its a waste of time. Guy will probably be playing in Europe next season.

Much rather Gustavo Ayon

Lol. People would go nuts here that's for sure. Fernando-like mania for the Lakers.

I was wondering about the lakers, and their obvious hole at pf, and dececiency at rebounding, and I was thinking about players who could possibly help, while still offering youth and upside

Then I remembered this guy, who led the nba summer league with 15 rebounds a game

Late summer when the bulls released him, I had hoped the lkers would bring him into camp, but he ended up not signing anywhere... And has dropped off the nba and basketball radar

I didn't see him anywhere in the preseason

He would have been a much better preseason body the. Landry or Harris.
He has an nba level talent, he can rebound the ball

The lakers need someone who can rebound the ball with attitude
Williams and Johnson at PF is going to get old fast

i think he'd be alright,

players can improve, too many people treat players like they're the same once they reach the nba

Thing is I'm sure with the future of Noah sort of shaky as well as not really having a backup that can score or match Robinson.

The Bulls should have kept Thomas and Goudelock imo.  But alas.

I found it odd that Thomas just dropped off the radar completely...

From one of the best players in the summer league, to not getting a camp invite...

Even goudelock got signed quick...
Terrible darrious odom Johnson got singed!
Even darrius Morris got signed by a team!

Maybe this guy went into a Lamar odom type funk after being cut

Well here he is, he's back on our D-Fenders team, seems really sad about him not making an NBA team as of yet.

D-Fenders News: Malcolm Thomas Ready To Prove He Belongs In NBA

At San Diego State, Malcolm Thomas established himself as a defensive presence and became the school’s second leading all-time shot blocker. While he earned numerous honors including the 2011 All-MWC defensive team, Thomas was not selected in the NBA Draft.

Since going undrafted in 2011, Thomas has made numerous stops around the NBA and overseas. Heading into a new season with the Los Angeles D-Fenders, Thomas wants to show that he can do more than rebounding and defending:

In order to get a call-up to the NBA, Thomas worked on his shooting and conditioning during the off-season and is ready to see what the future holds for him:

“I’m more than just a rebounder and defensive player — which is not a bad thing — but I feel like I can do a lot more and need to show a lot more. I feel like I will this year.”

In order to get a call-up to the NBA, Thomas worked on his shooting and conditioning during the off-season and is ready to see what the future holds for him:

“Did a lot of weight training. A lot of shooting, conditioning and just ready to go now. Ready to see what happens.”

He's a hustler, rebounder, defender, not a guy you need to draw up a play for.  We have that in Jordan Hill but considering how soft we are inside it wouldn't hurt, he just can't stretch the floor like Williams can but he for darn sure wouldn't be giving up rebounds.   Thomas also is a guy that zeroes in on the defensive rebounding side, Hill on the offensive rebounding side.

I'm sure as the Lakers keep constantly bringing this guy to their summer league team they are watching him.  He's only 24 so there's time, but he's a competent pick and roller to the basket, a nice finisher, plays defense and goes after any rebound.   He's obviously constantly getting a strong look from the Lakers so I hope he performs extremely well down in the d-league and earns a shot somewhere if not here.   D-Fenders are going to be running the Lakers offense though so if he excels in it then eyes will be more fixated on him likely more than in the past.

He seems extremely hungry. Give him a 10 day at least. Why not? We've got nothing to lose in all honesty anyway. Play him over Williams.

I'm sure Jody will be here eventually or shortly to give you a thousand reasons why not. :)

First D-league game  36 points 18 rebounds.

Malcolm Thomas Lives Up To The Hype In D-Fenders Season Debut

In his season debut, Thomas led the D-Fenders with 36 points and 18 rebounds. He shot 12-for-17 from the field, 2-for-4 from the three and 10-for-15 from the charity stripe. He also recorded four steals, three blocks and three assists.

The Vipers really had no answer in stopping Thomas. In the first half, he scored most of his points with his back to the basket and after the Vipers made defensive adjustments at the half, Thomas displayed his ability to run the floor, handle the ball and shoot in the third and fourth quarter. However, Thomas' strong output came in a losing effort, as the D-Fenders couldn't overcome the Vipers' ridiculous night from the arc (in which they attempted 50 threes), losing by a final score of 124-114.

Malcolm Thomas: 36 points/18 rebounds/4 steals/3 blocks/3 assists.

Hit some threes as well and the D-Fenders are running D'antoni's system.  He's a guy to keep your eye on if the Lakers let go of Williams.

Hustler, Defender, Rebounder, seems to have added some range.    That block at 1:50...

Lakers got their eye on him.  He's currently ranked the Number 1 Prospect in the D-league.  They(Lakers) can't make a decision till December.  But I'd take this guy in a heartbeat right now.  What's there to lose?   What do ya'll think?  Would you take this guy over Williams or Harris?

Other stand outs this game:

Ryan Kelly: Kelly scored 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting with nine rebounds in almost 37 minutes.

Elias Harris: Harris contributed 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting in 28 1/2 minutes.

But it was Thomas's night.  Lakers obviously are watching because of Kelly and Harris being on their watch.

But if Thomas keeps showing out like this...

Let him keep playing in the D-League if he consistently put up great numbers than maybe give him a shot and see what he does at practice
