Kobe only has 2-3 years left in him, including this upcoming season...so we're talking 1-2 with Carmelo.  The 2014 free agency period (or 2015, if everyone important opts in) is our chance to land a franchise superstar that will lead our team.  So, having Kobe in his mid-30s and ready to retire isn't going to change Carmelo Anthony as a scorer...and if he does, it's only for one or two years, if that.

Touching on the "super friends" idea, I really don't care if we go that route.  I just didn't like LeBron, Wade and Bosh celebrating in basically a "championship parade" in the summer of 2010.  I doubt our guys would ever do that.

But if we landed both Carmelo and LeBron in the same off-season to pair with Kobe Bryant would YOU do that? ;)

I would try to land lebron, John wall and a young/good center. Instead of lebron and melo.

This isn't gonna happen.....

Melo is a bum. Doesn't play defense. Won't go to the hole. Rather have Michael Cage. Melo is on the wrong side of 30 for a max deal.

Wait a minute!! Did you really say Michael Cage? THE Michael Cage?!?!

You're just mad cause you don't want to cheer for Carmelo or LeBron.

Kobe already said about the "kobe's helping lebron increase his ring count.". Kobe said it goes both ways and LeBron has already done that with Dwayne Wade but no one takes away from Wade, they target LeBron.

If you hate it so much then stop watching the Lakers if it happens. Simple. We'll be fine winning a championship and enjoying more success for the franchise without you :)

I HATE that term "selling out".  It's caked in b.s. at its root.

Also, Michael Cage lives locally here, he's a really nice guy.
