Keep Melo away from LA.

Melo may be our best option, though. I highly doubt LBJ is going to bolt for a third team; he's either staying in Miami (potential dynasty) or he's going back to Cleveland (savior of Cleveland [sports]).

if he plays off ball to Kobe similarly to the way he did in the Olympics I'm all for him being here.  Carmelo has said as such and Kobe knows how they'd play together.  They got a plan ;)  Carmelo would play the 4 and be off-ball to Kobe.  I don't think we'd see the same Carmelo we see on the Knicks with the Lakers strictly because him and Kobe seem to acknowledge the differences in playing with each other and Carmelo willingly would be off ball to him.  That I don't mind in the least, the best pure scorer in the NBA off ball to Kobe?    yeah I'll take that.

Especially as Carmelo and Kobe seem to have an idea on how they'd play together and formed it before the 2008 Olympics and worked on it more for the 2012 one.

Carmelo is someone KOBE wants specifically as he knows how he'd play with him and where he'd play him.  Which was the 4, which Kobe stated Carmelo should be back in 2011 and the Knicks still didn't get the memo.

I think Kobe knows how to play Carmelo and I think Carmelo would willingly be off ball to Kobe.

Especially after this year of the Knicks he's about to endure ;)

Anyone booing getting LeBron and Carmelo on this team at the same time and pairing them with Kobe Bryant with this high and mighty "We're the Lakers! We don't need them"  must have really REALLY hated those Magic Johnson Lakers teams with all of their stars and potential superstars on there ;)

I'm glad some of you aren't GMs.

LeBron would be the best PG the Lakers have ever had since Magic left.

Melo is a bum. Doesn't play defense. Won't go to the hole. Rather have Michael Cage. Melo is on the wrong side of 30 for a max deal.

He's the best pure score in the NBA and is willing to play off ball and not dominate it so much if Kobe is on the team with you and has superstar level talent and doesn't have to lead the franchise and is off ball to Kobe Bryant who would draw so many double teams and net Carmelo so many open shots it wouldn't be funny.

Far be it for me to want the best pure scorer in the NBA not named Kevin Durant playing off-ball to Kobe Bryant. :smh:

Melo is a superstar on the offense, and is just a star.

So why wouldn't someone want an offensive superstar playing off ball to Kobe Bryant that's willing to play that way with Kobe and has already formed a plan to do such?

I'm not scoffing if we get Carmelo or LeBron, let alone both.

I would take Melo but not on a max deal. He will be 31 and it's risky giving a guy a max deal at that age. Better off spending the money on 2 young guys who can develop of the years.

Melo is one of the best and most dangerous scorers in the league but when he goes cold there's not much he can offer. It happened a few times in the playoffs.

Guys like Kobe and LeBron have a variety of ways to get their teammates involved when they struggle to score.

I've got no problem with that whatsoever.

Of course we'd only have to fix the coaching part still of course.

yo.
