It's not like Mexico doesn't ever beat any good teams, but for some reason, the U.S., they can just almost never beat, especially on U.S. soil.
Mexico's players are significantly better than the U.S players.
It's only a matter of time before Mexico become clearly superior.

For example, Mexico's shown time and time again that they can and have beaten powerhouses like Brazil, Portugal, & Argentina to name a few (though rarely Argentina, them next to the U.S. are always their toughest match up/s). Now the U.S., on the contrary, they DON'T do that nearly as frequently or as often, if almost ever.
So my point is Mexico has and is the better and more dangerous team overall in general against the rest of the competition, but in this specific matchup of Mexico and the U.S., one against the other, for some reason, the U.S. just plays better or is better going up against them.

^ Darth, Mexico has consistently already BEEN the better team overall in general against the rest of the competition, but like I said, just towards the U.S., for whatever the reason, they can't get past him too often. It's like in their heads or something. I think it's more mental than anything.

Although they have good players, Mexico's productivity in International tournaments has been poor. At least the USA have done decent jobs in the group stages. Mexico have consistently choked despite having talent. However, I think the new wave of Mexican youth is now the golden chance for Mexico to cause some havoc to other countries (World Cup 2010).
The Mexican team is now one of my more favoured teams due to the good young players (especially Carlos Vela), so I definitely think this is the golden chance. Both Guardado and Vela have the potential to be world class.

^ Their younger goalie Guillermo 'Memo' Ochoa is pretty promising too. In fact, many feel he's by far already better than their older dude Oswaldo Sanchez. That guy's blown so many games. He's way past his prime.
He's good as well although just below Guardado and Vela's class imo.

Is it seriously true though that this game supposedly knocked Mex out for good from even having a chance at making it to the World Cup in 2010? or that now since they lost and the amount of points they have, they basically have about a 10-15% chance of qualifying now? That a lot of things miraculously have to occur for them to make it? If indeed true, that is seriously sad and unfortunate.
Stupid Mex though, they never learn. When are they going to start putting in Guillermo 'Memo' Ochoa in over Oswaldo Sanchez? Oswaldo has been more than past his prime for a long time and just flat out sucks and chokes. It's ridiculous. Almost every Mexican fan knows this.

Wow, honestly, I didn't Mex was in as bad a position as they are. I didn't know they had struggled so mightily recently and even had at least 6 major injuries. As far as this game, I didn't really watch all of it cuz I didn't wanna' suffer and being the circumstances of all of Mex's injuries and the fact that they rarely ever play well against the U.S., specifically on U.S. soil to begin with, I just knew the chances weren't good. Plus obviously as mentioned, Neri got hurt and then Rafa got kicked out.

No they're not eliminated. there's a total of 6 teams remaining competing in the concacaf qualifiers. And each team plays each other twice. One home game and one away game. the top 3 teams qualify to the world cup and the 4th place team has a match against the 4th place team from south america and the winner also qualifys.
Remaining teams:
Costa Rica
El Salvador
USA
Mexico
Honduras
Trinidad and Tobago
so basically all Mexico has to do is be one of the top 3 teams in the table and they'll qualify.
Hope that explains it.
