By the way, why didn't Nery Castillo play or did he even go? Was he invited? He's by far one of our best & most explosive players on offense & goal scorer.


He hasn't been playing for his club he needs to regain his form...Gio and Vela need to step up they are the future of EL Tri.

^ Aww.. I see. That's hard to believe cuz the guy showed so much promise there for a while. He easily at a time looked like Mexico's best offensive & most explosive player. Well I certainly hope he can regain his confidence and play back to how it was sometime soon & contribute for us.

my bad about them playing on sunday, its cus the day b4 they showed on tv mexico vs las americas and i thought it was going to be an actual game, turns out it was a 1 hr show special.sorry.

MÉXICO -- El delantero mexicano Nery Castillo dajará al equipo inglés Manchester City, para jugar con el Betis de la Primera División de España la temporada 2008-2009, confirmó su representante Juan Carlos Padilla a un portal de Internet.

El contrato del atacante mexicano es a préstamo por un año con opción a compra, descartando así a la Roma, equipo que también mostró interés por el jugador.

"Estamos esperando a que se diga cuando viaja el jugador y yo creo que este lunes por la mañana ya se dará el anuncio oficial por parte del Betis, pero ya prácticamente está atado", explicó Padilla.

Abundó que faltan los exámenes médicos correspondientes pero que el contrato ya está arreglado para que juegue su primera temporada en tierras españolas, "si no es mañana, pasado Nery tiene que estar acá", dijo Padilla, quien se encuentra en España.

Por último, Castillo estará en calidad de préstamo, y se espera que el Betis pueda quedarse con los derechos sobre el jugador al termino del acuerdo, ya que por el momento los dueños de la carta del seleccionado nacional son el equipo ucraniano Shakhtar.

"La gente del Betis ha estado siguiendo muchísimo a Nery y obviamente ellos se quieren quedar a final de año con el jugador. Lo que pasa es que de momento, por la situación que tenía con el préstamo del Manchester City por la situación con el Shakhtar se tuvo que tomar esta decisión", finalizó.

The latest reports indicate in replacement for Franco now being gone, Ericson is really looking to call Nery Castillo, God I hope so. I think that's a no brainer. He's by far one of our best goal scorers and overall most explosive players.

That is so lame. Unfortunately, the Mexican National Team is just about all set pretty much & apparently it turns out in the end, Nery Castillo will NOT come.

Mexican Coach Ericson said in a press conference that he supposedly tried & tried to get in contact with him and or his agent, and they never answered back & that he had no idea where he was.

Stuff just sounded weird in general. Again unfortunately, I'm kinda' getting a vibe & thought I didn't want to, but I am, and that is that maybe just maybe, Nery just isn't that passionate about his country or the team and wasn't really interested bottomline. <_<

Whatever the reason is, he's not coming and that's a shame. He would've really helped us out tremendously imo. Would've gave us a legitimate threat explosive & dynamic offensive threat.

They DEFINITELY SHOULD, but sometimes you just never know with soccer, it can be a funny game sometimes..

but in reality, indeed, they SHOULD win, once again..

i still wish nery castillo was playing, but oh well, he's probably not really much of a team player..

What a trash performance. Definitely should've just tied though 0-0, instead, one of our own guys stupidly scored a goal for them. Wack. It must've been packed, since it was their first game, Mexico's that is, here in LA in a long time.

Nery Castillo pisses me off. He should be playing and why did Guatemoc Blanco retire from playing with the national team so early? At least Guillermo 'Memo' Ochoa finally got some playing time, but one of our own guys had to ruin it for him, idiot.
