At least on Wiki, Chris Kaman has never, ever, in his entire career shot 80% of his free throws, so I'm not sure where that stat came from.  All I can recall is him missing free throws at the end of the game and blowing games with him in at the end.

As a 10 year player, it is likely his numbers will go down, not up, so looking at the last two years in NO and Dallas is pretty indicative.  of his future performance--14ppg and 8rebs for NO, and 11 and 6 at Dallas.  A single block per game.

He is no starting Center.  Not a bad back up without a lot of defense, but I'm afraid he is going to be used for a starter and will play starter minutes.  He will make Pao Gasol look like a super star.  If as most on this board suggest that Pao Gasol is garbage, then Kaman is really old garbage.

But Chris Kaman may be the best free agent Center that the Lakers can presently afford.

Expect the worst.  Hope for the best.

Oh so you looked on Wikipedia?

That ends the discussion.

But in all seriousness, Kaman is serviceable. The Lakers aren't expecting anything more from him than being just that. I'm not sure why you are hating the signing so much.

They needed another center and they got one.

he shot 78.8% last year...close enough jeez lol

also when the clippers went to the playoffs with kaman, he basically played the same as the regular season, so that's fine with me if he can continue to play well in the playoffs, which is, you know, important

"Serviceable" Center, I agree.  At $3.2mm a year, he is probably one of the lowest paid starting Centers in the league.  Indeed, he might be a bargain at that price.  Or a bum.  You never know with a washed out has been that never was--he could have the best year of his career or it could be a bust.  The Lakers aren't losing much and have little downside if he fails.

But I wouldn't start planning the World Championship Parade around Chris Kaman quite yet.

Seriously. Guy doesn't know how to round off a bit or what? Nitpicking at 1.2 off comes off a little desperate if ya' ask me. Relaxation & humility friends.

Who the hell is planning the parade. Dude no one with any sense actually thinks were contenders. This season is about who out of all the signings we just had could turn out to be something more than the money we gave him and to find some good in this season.
