Is anyone worried that mitch, even though he's doing great with what wet have to offer, is pretty much building around Nash right now?

Think about it. Hes signing Nash type of teammates

He's building around our coach. Either way, they're only 1 year deals. He can change everything next year if he wants.

Not worried, this is MDA's system, and we happen to have MDA's perfect leading actor (Nash), so technically we're not building around Nash. Either way, we're signing one year contracts so no big worries

He's adding young athletic players, the same type of players we needed for years.

Farmar,Ariza, and Shannon won with Phil right?

Worried?

I'm excited. Like everyone said, if we suck then there's no fear since everyone is only doing 1 year contracts.

Nash type of players? Who exactly

Kobe needed a Young back up = Johnson Check (is become a decent shooter but he isnt the prototype for Nash guards who camp out at 3)

MWP needed to be replaced by young scoring guard that can get his own shot & create off dribble for others = Young check (streaky scorer not necessarily the NAsh style of guard)

Now bench needs some more fillers at PF

I dont like bringing Farmar back but at least he has better speed than Nash & Blake

No. These are rental players. The guys we sign don't matter because chances are this team will look radically different in 2014

I ain't got no worries.

Pleasantly surprised with what the front office has done. Lakers have gotten younger. Excited for the upcoming season

Exactly.  He is putting together a team that has a bunch of cast offs as well as a 2009 reunion tour on one year contracts.  As close to zero risk as you can get.  I don't think many people here understand the concept of rebuilding and think that this team should just contend for a title every year, which is just impossible.

I'll be worried in summer 2014 if the Lakers are unable to sign/draft the next franchise player.

Well, you're not thinking clearly.

We aren't signing our next franchise player next year. We'll acquire an all-Star or two though

I'm actually really excited. We finally added some youth, and although we lack capable defensive players, we'll have a fun team. This year is so easy for me because there aren't any championship expectations,we know we'll either be 7th or 8th seed or in the lottery,so I won't be disappointed with any result of this season. Bad season,MDA fired, lottery pick. It works for me.
Impossible is nothing.

No franchise player will want to play here while Kobe is still running the show. Need to wait for his retirement. I don't want it to happen cuz Kobe is Kobe, but for the Lakers' sache, it needs to be sooner rather than later. Unless he can finally do what DWade did and handover the team to someone deserving.

I'll put my money on it now that if the Knicks don't make it to the Easter Conference finals, Carmelo is out and comes to LA.  Just because Dwight chose to leave Kobe doesn't mean every Superstar/Franchise player won't be willing to join him and chase a ring.  Also if the Kings decide not to resign Cousins I wouldn't be shocked if we get our hands on him either.

In essence, I always felt like Kobe knew Dwight wasn't the guy to take over and Kobe slightly never embraced him as much as he did Pau.  Kobe seemed like he knew Dwight wasn't going to be the guy and even though it wasn't expressed publically, if you read between the lines you can compare Kobe's attitude when given the opportunity to play with Pau in comparison to Dwight.  Pau in his prime or (In his first 2 seasons as a Laker) was a player vastly underrated and it's unfortunate he sometimes never gets the credit he deserves.

Just support your favorite team. We'll get through this together. I like the fact that we are getting younger. We need that. 2014 is gonna be a big year for us.
